Dr John Short

Biography:
Is originally from the UK. He grew up in Lancashire in the North West of England and studied medicine at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Following graduation in 1995 he worked in junior posts in England and Australia before specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. John was awarded membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2000 and joined the specialist training programme in the Northern Deanery the following year. In his final year of training he worked at the internationally respected Urogynaecology unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne. After completing specialist training in 2006 John moved to New Zealand to take up a post as Senior Medical Officer at Christchurch Women's Hospital. At the same time he was appointed a clinical lecturer at the university of Otago Christchurch school of medicine. In 2008 he joined the Oxford Clinic in a joint appointment with the Canterbury District Health Board for 12 months as the Ethicon Endoscopic Surgery Fellow, during which time he further developed his skills in laparoscopic and advanced pelvic surgery.
