1. Double Filtration Plasmapheresis (DFPP)
Blood flows through a
filter that separates the plasma from the blood cells, including red blood
cells, and these cells are returned to the patient's body right after
separation.
The separated plasma
then passes through a plasma fractionator filter containing a porous membrane.
Depending on the type of fractionator, the membrane can retain potentially
pathogenic particles, including autoantibodies, pathogenic immune complexes, inflammatory
mediators, lipoproteins, heavy metals, and certain toxins. The filtered plasma
is continuously returned to the patient's circulation. The plasma
fractionator is selected based on patient’s medical condition. Depending on the
underlying disease, the reduction of the abovementioned substances may
contribute to:
Selective blood purification: removal of autoantibodies, cytokines,
toxins and pathogenic immune complexes
Anti-inflammatory effect: relieves the immune system and limits
inflammatory processes
Body regeneration: support for natural repair processes and cell

2. LDL-Apheresis (low-density lipoprotein apheresis) using DFPP method
The purpose of LDL
apheresis is to temporarily reduce the concentration of LDL cholesterol,
triglycerides and lipoprotein(a) circulating in the blood.
Blood flows through a
filter that separates the plasma from the blood cells, including red blood
cells, and these cells are returned to the patient's body right after
separation. The separated plasma then passes through a plasma fractionator
filter containing a porous membrane. This filter selectively retains
low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and lipoprotein(a). The filtered plasma is continuously
returned to the patient's circulation.
LDL-Apheresis may
contribute to:
Reducing the concentration of atherogenic lipoproteins in the blood
Reducing the risk of acute pancreatitis in patients with severe
hypertriglyceridemia
Reducing inflammatory processes in vessels and stabilization of
atherosclerotic plaques
Slowing down the progression of atherosclerosis
Because the body
constantly produces lipoproteins, the resulting reduction in their
concentration is temporary, and the treatments may need to be repeated.
