Ajanta Reflexology - Holistic Health Clinic in the UK

Ajanta Reflexology

54A, Norwich Road, Wymondham, NR18 0NT
Ajanta Reflexology offers personal and individual attention in a private environment from Sarah Sayer who is a fully trained and insured member of The Association of Reflexologists. Reflexology helped Sarah through a difficult time four years ago when she was diagnosed with the neurological disorder dystonia. She was then determined to train in reflexology so that she could share the benefits of this wonderful therapy with others. Sarah trained at the renowned Pathways School of Reflexology in Norwich and qualified in April 2008. Having retired from a long career in the Civil Service, Sarah has now started her own reflexology practice in Wymondham. A reflexology treatment usually involves lying or sitting down with feet and legs supported. After gathering medical and lifestyle information, some time is taken to find the most comfortable and relaxing position for the treatment. Gentle pressure is then applied to all areas of the feet, with particular attention paid to areas that correspond to the presenting condition. A treatment usually lasts for around 50 minutes, many patients find the experience deeply relaxing and often feel sleepy, sometimes actually falling asleep.
Holistic Health Consultation
Before a reflexology treatment some time is spent gathering health and lifestyle information.  This will enable the reflexologist to tailor the treatment to the clients specific needs.  It must be stressed that reflexology is not a substitute for seeking medical help and does not claim to cure, nor will the reflexologist diagnose.
Reflexology
It is widely believed that the whole body is mapped out on the feet, and that by applying gentle pressure to specific areas the corresponding organs or systems may be affected. The healing art of reflexology can be traced as far back as 250oBC in Egypt, India and China. An ancient image of the Hindu God Vishnu’s feet depicts Sanskrit symbols that appear to reflect reflexology points. A wall painting with hieroglyphics at the tomb of the physician Ankhmahor, excavated in Saggara in Egypt and dated c2000 BC, convincingly appear to depict hand and foot touch therapy. In 1913 Dr William Fitzgerald introduced the therapy to the west as ‘zone therapy’. Dr Fitzgerald discovered that reflex areas of the feet were linked to organs and systems in the whole body. This was further developed by Eunice Ingham in the 1930s into what is now known as reflexology. Recent research in Japan has shown that stimulation of several reflex points on the feet causes increased brain activity related to the corresponding areas of the body.Reflexology is a holistic therapy, treating the whole person not just the prevailing symptoms. It is not an alternative to seeking medical advice or attention, nor is it a beauty therapy or a foot massage. Reflexology can help restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium and has anecdotally been shown to be effective for a range of conditions such as: Stress related disorders, migraine, back pain, sleep disorders, infertility, hormonal imbalances, arthritis and digestive disorders.
