Biography:
• Dr George Marinos completed his medical degree with honours (MB BS Hons) at the University of NSW in 1982. He was a resident and a registrar at Prince of Wales and Prince Henry Hospitals and then completed his Advanced Training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Prince of Wales and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals (FRACP – 1990). Dr Marinos then worked and studied overseas at the Kings College Hospital, London for 5 years where he completed his MD thesis (1996).

• In 2001 Dr Marinos co-founded the Maroubra Day Surgery (now known as City East Specialist Day Hospital). In 2005 he also co-founded the first intragastric balloon clinic (Gastric Balloon Australia), who are now Australia’s leaders in endoscopic bariatric procedures and research. In 2006 Dr George Marinos co-founded GP Grand Rounds an independent teaching organization providing continuing medical education for GPs throughout Sydney and rural NSW.

Biography:
• Associate Professor Martin Weltman is an experienced consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, with a strong interest in liver disorders, capsule endoscopy, reflux oesophagitis, colon cancer screening and inflammatory bowel disease. He completed his medical degree at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa in 1983. This was followed by specialist training in both South Africa and in Australia at Royal Hobart, St George and Westmead Hospitals (FRACP 1992). Professor Weltman subsequently obtained a PhD from the University of Sydney 1998) for his key studies into fatty liver disease.

• Professor Weltman consults in private practice in Bondi Junction, Randwick and at Nepean Hospital. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Sydney and works as a Staff Specialist at Nepean Hospital, where he is also the Director of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department.

• He is the author of over 40 publications, multiple book chapters and a textbook in the field of gastroenterology (‘Gastroenterology and Hepatology: A Clinical Handbook’). Professor Weltman is a sought after speaker both nationally and internationally. He is also an editor and reviewer for specialist medical journals in the field of gastroenterology. Professor Weltman is married and has two children. He is a passionate sports fan, particularly rugby, soccer and cricket.
