Biography:
Mark Kan MD, a well-known Southern California fertility doctor, is the director and founder of the Newport Fertility Center. Dr. Kan is a Board-Certified specialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is also Board-Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Kan has over 20 years of experience in reproductive medicine and surgery. Prior to becoming a Newport Beach fertility doctor, Dr. Kan completed his medical degree from Loyola University of Chicago and graduated near the top of his class. He completed a 4-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. This program specialized in high-risk obstetrics, with one of the largest groups of Perinatology in the country. After residency, Dr. Kan was selected for fellowship at the the prestigious Cornell IVF program at Cornell University in New York. Dr. Kan completed a 3-year fellowship specializing in IVF and reproductive surgery. At the Cornell program in New York, Dr. Kan worked with the pioneers in the field of IVF and ICSI, which would prepare him for his work as a Newport Beach IVF doctor. He performed extensive research in IVF, PGD, and sex selection techniques. He personally performed single gene PCR and fluorescent in-situ hybridiation (FISH), two test used in PGD to make genetic diagnoses for the embryos.
