When we talk about cataract, the formation of a curtain of mist in the eye that disrupts the clarity of vision, due to the dulling of the lens which normally is transparent is understood. This fog of mist intensifies in time and disrupts vision significantly. In other vvords, Cataract is the thickening of the lens of the eye; subsequently reduction in vision and even loss of vision occurs. it is a disease that can be treated and treatment can only be performed via surgery. Old age, sunlight, usage of drugs like cortisone, heredity, fatness, heavy diarrheas, low socio-economical level, excessive smoking and alcohol drinking, reduction in the level of estrogen in post-menopausal women and excessive consumption of salt effects the formation of cataract negatively.

Excimer laser is the most common method used in thetreatment of myopia (not being able to see near objects clearly). With Excimerlaser, photoablation (trimming) and vaporization (evaporation) is conducted inthe cornea.
