As a cataract surgery patient I want to give people hope that after your lens replacement you will be able to immediately see your surroundings sharp and in color again!
Because both of my eyes were affected I did a lot of research, whom I can trust to perform a cataract surgery on me. I have chosen Okulisticni center Hawlina & Schollmayer in Portoroz.
First of all, I needed a surgery appointment asap and this was not possible in my home country Austria. I would have to wait for 8 months to a year, or it would have been much too expensive.

So that the patient is not scared and best prepared and that he can trust that he is in the best hands. Additional Dr. Schollmayer speaks even German, because she studied in Vienna.
I found out that this power couple is not not only specialized in cataract surgery. And on top they also teach and train the next generation eye doctors to become successful cataract surgeons and mentor them. Their knowledgeable and friendly team operates many modern apparatuses to check the eyes extensively first and at every appointment afterwards.
I had to do an intense pre-medication program so that the eyes are well prepared for this procedure. Doctor Schollmayer also took extra precaution because of my rosacea skin condition that can affect my eyes. Professor Hawlina even found a solution for my problem: that I am allergic to all sorts of frames of my glasses that I will see perfectly far and near with the latest state of the art lenses on the market.
They still offer me check ups and that comforts me a lot.
I suggested to Doctor Schollmayer that she should offer a package. Cataract surgery and a cleaning service for the patients house, because afterwards you can see every detail you missed cleaning. She told me that the patients mention that a lot!
The lens replacement surgery abroad was worth the money for sure and you can even take a vacation in Portoroz, while it is done. As I mentioned, compared to other offers it was not even too expensive. Also check with your health insurance how much they reimburse you. On top of the best is that you can get a fast appointment because they are best organized and they have a second clinic in Ljubljana.
As an artist, I am extremely happy to have my eyesight back and can continue my passion.
