Dr Ross Hardey

Biography:
Graduated from Auckland 1977 and practised in Christchurch for 2 years before going overseas for a further 3 years to train and practise in England. I came here for a short time to help when the local optometrist was tragically killed on the Parapara. My wife Raey and I fell in love with Wanganui and made it our home. I went into partnership with Michael Webber and then John and later Kerry joined us. Giving back to our wider community is important to me and I have carried out charity optometry work in Fiji. My wife and I have raised 3 children here. Two have flown the nest, my daughter to Singapore and my son now captains Orions on search and surveillance.

Dr John Mellsop

Biography:
am originally from South Auckland ( Papakura ) and came to Wanganui in 1980, after training as an Optometrist at Auckland University. With my wife we have found Wanganui a great place to live, work and bring up our three children. I am passionate about helping people. My chosen profession is a great outlet for this because of what Optometry can offer people. The treatment we give can make a huge impact on people’s lives. I have enjoyed taking these skills to countries where eye care has limited availability like Papua New Guinea or Nepal and plan to continue this. This passion for helping people also drives my involvement as a volunteer in the ministry of a local Christian Church.

Dr Kerry Bennett

Biography:
Studied optometry at Cardiff University in Wales. I graduated in 1992 and became fully qualified as an Optometrist -Member of British College of Optometrists (MCOptom) in 1993. Worked for 5 years in England for various chain stores such as Optica, Vision Express and Specsavers. Moved to Jamaica 1998 and worked for a group of practices there for 5 years before moving to New Zealand. Love the stair race challenge in the Masters Games- always being the first or second fastest in the field.
