Volkert B. Wreesmann MD PhD is an internationally trained consultant otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon with expertise in advanced ENT, facial plastic, head and neck, endocrine, and airway surgery.

He completed advanced head and neck oncology fellowship training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, one of the world’s leading cancer centers, after prior research fellowships in molecular oncology at both Memorial Sloan-Kettering and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). During his two-year surgical fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, he performed more than 1200 major oncologic head and neck resections.

Dr Wreesmann previously held consultant and honorary consultant appointments within major UK NHS institutions, including Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He remains actively engaged in UK clinical practice and maintains full specialist registration and regular revalidation with the UK General Medical Council (GMC).

He currently consults across selected hospitals in Spain and Andorra, including Centro Médico Teknon Barcelona, Hospital Vithas Barcelona, Hospital Vithas Lleida, Juaneda Menorca, and Clínica Omega Zeta in Andorra.

His clinical practice focuses on complex and revision ENT surgery, head and neck oncology, endocrine surgery, advanced airway reconstruction, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, rhinoplasty, facial nerve reconstruction, deep-plane facial rejuvenation procedures, minimally invasive transnasal esophagoscopy, and advanced treatment approaches for persistent olfactory dysfunction.

He favors a thoughtful and multidisciplinary approach to complex medical problems, working closely with other specialties whenever this is in the patient’s best interest. Particular emphasis is placed on careful decision-making, balanced discussion of risks and benefits, and individualized treatment planning tailored to each patient’s circumstances.

Dr Wreesmann has extensive experience providing specialist second opinions for complex head and neck, airway, rhinologic, and reconstructive conditions, both in person and remotely for international patients.

Dr Wreesmann holds medical licenses in the United Kingdom, Spain, Andorra, and the United States, including full specialist registration with the UK General Medical Council (GMC) and United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) certification.

Alongside his clinical work, he has maintained a strong academic and research background throughout his career. He holds a PhD in molecular biology from the University of Amsterdam and has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications in leading international medical journals. He currently serves as Associate Editor for the European Journal of Surgical Oncology.

Karin P. Q. Oomen MD PhD is a fellowship-trained consultant otolaryngologist with expertise in pediatric ENT, airway surgery, rhinology, and advanced ENT care for both children and adults.

After completing her ENT residency at the University Medical Center Utrecht and Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital in the Netherlands, she pursued a two-year fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York under the mentorship of internationally recognized pediatric airway specialists Dr Robert F. Ward and Dr Vikash K. Modi.

Dr Oomen subsequently worked as a pediatric otolaryngologist at the University Medical Center Utrecht/Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital, where her practice included pediatric airway reconstruction, cleft palate and multidisciplinary craniofacial care, laryngology, swallow disorders, and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic laryngotracheobronchoscopy.

As both a pediatric ENT surgeon and mother of two, Dr Oomen understands the anxiety families may experience when seeking specialist care for their child. She places strong emphasis on creating a calm and trusting environment for children and parents alike, recognising that careful communication, patience, and continuity of care are essential to achieving the best outcomes in pediatric medicine.

She remains actively engaged in UK clinical practice, working regularly as a consultant ENT surgeon within the NHS, and maintains full specialist registration with the UK General Medical Council (GMC), including yearly appraisal and five-year revalidation. She also holds United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) certification through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

She holds a PhD from the University of Utrecht focused on anatomical and clinical aspects of headache disorders and has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications in leading international medical journals in the fields of pediatric ENT, airway surgery, cleft palate care, rhinology, and vascular anomalies.
