Job Title: Counsellor
My name is James Isserlis and I am a qualified and BACP Registered Counsellor. I have worked in Health and Social Care settings for over 10 years and trained for 4 years at Devon Counselling College. I have worked with a huge cross section of society including Acquired Brain Injury, Mental Health, Carers, Stroke Survivors, Domestic Abuse, Student and Education settings. I and am also a specialist statutory advocate working under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (IMCA) and Associate Counsellor at Plymouth University
.The way I work is empathetic with the focus on ensuring my clients feel comfortable and supported after taking the brave steps to allow Counselling into their lives. I consider myself an Intergretive Counsellor using my range of knowledge of counselling theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt and Solution Focused Brief Therapy along with the bedrock of a person centered approach. This allows me to tailor my working specifically to my clients unique needs.
My work in health and wellbeing has shown me that we are all fundamentally driven by a desire towards a capacity to take control of our lives and positive change. Sometimes however we can feel that we lack control in our lives. My job is to support you to gain the insight and clarity you need through your journey in a safe confidential space.
