Dr. Michell Andrés Cruz Martín is a Consultant Physician in General Internal Medicine with specialist expertise in Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine. He currently practices at the GUIDE Clinic within the Infectious Diseases Department at St. James’s Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, where he provides specialist care for people living with HIV and patients with complex infectious diseases.

Dr. Cruz completed specialist training in Internal Medicine through the Spanish national residency programme (MIR), obtaining the title of Specialist in Internal Medicine from the Spanish Ministry of Health. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Cruz worked as a Consultant Physician in General Internal Medicine in several Irish hospitals, including Mayo University Hospital and Kerry University Hospital. During this time he gained extensive experience managing complex acute medical admissions, chronic multisystem disease, and infectious complications in hospitalised patients. At Kerry University Hospital he served as Sepsis Clinical Coordinator, contributing to hospital protocols aimed at improving early recognition and management of sepsis and enhancing patient safety.

Dr. Cruz also served as European Medical Lead for infectious disease and COVID-19 safety protocols at Activision Blizzard during the COVID-19 pandemic, designing infection prevention strategies and testing protocols for large international events across Europe in line with evolving public health guidance.

He has developed a strong subspecialty focus in HIV medicine and the prevention of HIV-associated malignancies. Certified in High-Resolution Anoscopy through the International Anal Neoplasia Society, he is currently leading the development of Ireland’s first High-Resolution Anoscopy screening service at St. James’s Hospital to improve early detection and prevention of anal cancer in high-risk populations.

Dr. Cruz is actively involved in research, medical education, and quality improvement initiatives. His work includes peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and award-winning research in HIV and sexually transmitted infections. His work evaluating adherence to clinical guidelines in HIV and STI care received the Best Poster Award at a national meeting of the Society for the Study of Sexually Transmitted Diseases in Ireland.

He also contributes to teaching and supervision of junior doctors and trainees, delivering clinical education in HIV medicine, infectious diseases, and internal medicine.

Dr. Cruz holds a Professional Diploma in Leadership and Management with Distinction from University College Dublin and is a member of several international professional societies including the European AIDS Clinical Society, the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV, and the International Anal Neoplasia Society.

Dr. Laura Mesa Díez is a General Practitioner with a background in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. She serves as the Clinical GP Lead at CareBridge Medical in Dublin, providing comprehensive primary care for patients across all stages of life, from young adults to older patients with complex medical needs.

Dr. Mesa’s medical approach combines the continuity and relationship-focused care of family medicine with the decisiveness and clinical judgement developed through emergency medicine practice. Dr. Giovanni Villa is a Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases and Genitourinary Medicine with extensive clinical and academic experience in HIV medicine, sexually transmitted infections, and global infectious diseases. He currently works as a Consultant Physician at the Department of Genitourinary Medicine and Infectious Diseases (GUIDE Clinic) at St. James’s Hospital in Dublin, one of the largest specialist centres for HIV and sexual health in Ireland. In his clinical role, Dr. Villa provides specialist care for patients with HIV infection, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and individuals accessing HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). He also contributes to the inpatient HIV service and participates in the consultant on-call rota. In addition, he has served as Consultant Lead for Mpox (monkeypox) prevention and management during the international outbreak, helping coordinate clinical responses and patient care. Dr. Villa has more than fifteen years of clinical experience in infectious diseases, working in several international healthcare systems including Ireland, the United Kingdom, Italy, Brazil, and Ghana. Throughout his career he has managed a wide range of infectious conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including HIV, chronic viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, tropical infections, and complex bacterial infections. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Infection and Global Health at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. His doctoral research focused on HIV treatment outcomes, drug resistance, and long-term complications of HIV infection. His work has contributed to international research and clinical guidelines, particularly in the understanding of treatment responses and antiretroviral therapy strategies. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Villa completed a Master of Science with Distinction in Tropical and Infectious Diseases at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and specialist training in Infectious Diseases in Italy. He also holds diplomas in HIV Medicine and Genitourinary Medicine from the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries in London. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Villa maintains a strong academic and teaching profile. He has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers in international medical journals and has presented research at international conferences in infectious diseases and HIV medicine. His research interests include HIV drug resistance, antiretroviral therapy outcomes, viral hepatitis, and the epidemiology of infectious diseases. Dr. Villa also contributes to medical education and training. He has taught medical students and postgraduate trainees in infectious diseases and sexual health and is involved in academic teaching activities for medical students at Trinity College Dublin. Dr. Miguel Caballero Campo is a specialist in Reproductive Medicine, Obstetrics, and Gynecology with extensive experience in fertility care, assisted reproductive technologies, and the management of complex reproductive disorders. He currently practices in Dublin as a fertility consultant while continuing his clinical and academic work in reproductive medicine. Dr. Caballero has developed advanced expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility and reproductive conditions, with particular focus on assisted reproductive technologies, fertility preservation, and minimally invasive gynecological surgery. His clinical practice includes the management of complex fertility cases, reproductive endocrinology disorders, and uterine pathologies that may affect reproductive outcomes. He completed his medical degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Alcalá de Henares in Spain, followed by specialist training in Intensive Care Medicine and later specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón in Madrid, one of Spain’s leading tertiary referral centres for complex obstetric and gynecological care. Dr. Caballero further advanced his expertise in reproductive medicine by completing a Master’s Degree in Human Reproduction at the Complutense University of Madrid. In addition to his clinical training, he pursued doctoral research and was awarded a PhD in Medical Science, focusing on reproductive medicine and gynecologic research. Throughout his career, Dr. Caballero has gained extensive experience in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, including hysteroscopy and laparoscopic techniques used in the diagnosis and treatment of reproductive conditions. These procedures play an important role in improving fertility outcomes and managing uterine abnormalities that may affect implantation and pregnancy. Dr. Caballero has also held academic and teaching roles, contributing to postgraduate medical education and specialist training. Since 2017 he has been a professor in the Master’s Degree Program in Human Reproduction at the Complutense University of Madrid and the Spanish Fertility Society, helping train future specialists in reproductive medicine and assisted reproductive technologies.
