What is Acne Scar Treatment?

Acne scars are scars left on the skin of patients who have suffered severe acne. Surgical and nonsurgical procedures are performed to remove acne scars.

How is Acne Scar Treatment performed?

Acne scars are removed using nonsurgical aesthetic procedures including chemical peels, where an acid is used to peel off the top layer of skin, microdermabrasion, where abrasive crystals are sprayed onto the skin to remove the top layer, anti-aging injectables to make the skin smooth and plump, skin needling procedures, laser assisted skin resurfacing and surgical skin grafting procedures.

Is Acne Scar Treatment painful?

Nonsurgical procedures to treat acne scarring are not painful. Laser assisted treatments are performed after putting numbing creams or after administering a local anaesthetic. Surgical skin grafting procedures are performed using general anaesthesia. Patients will not feel any pain during procedures.

When can I travel by air after having an Acne Scar Treatment?

Patients can travel by air a day after nonsurgical acne scar treatments. They should not travel by air for at least two weeks after surgical skin graft procedures.

How long does recovery take after undergoing an Acne Scar Treatment?

Recovery after nonsurgical acne scar treatments takes about two weeks. Recovery after surgical skin graft treatments takes about three to five weeks.

What after care is required after an Acne Scar Treatment?

Patients should take all prescribed medications and apply topical medications correctly after nonsurgical acne scar treatments. Patients should not touch or scratch the treated area after surgical and nonsurgical acne scar procedures. Patients should avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight for at least six months.

I have a fear of needles, but she managed to calm me downKiki, UK, 26 02 18

I had dermal fillers done here because the online reviews were good and the price fell within my budget. I paid about 500 pounds for 2 ml of fillers and it was definitely good value. Prior to the appointment, I made an online inquiry and the clinic called me up with the price and all the details. I really liked the place. It’s very nice and the person who injected the fillers was so friendly and patient. This was important - I have a fear of needles, but she managed to calm me down. It was a great experience and I want to go again. I think I will actually go for another treatment next month. The only downside to the experience was the distance I had to travel to get to the clinic. I needed to take a train and a bus (it was about 2 hours). There were closer clinics, but I don’t think their reviews were as good, or their rates were probably out of my price range.

Acne Scars Treatment from £150
FNS Medical Micro-Needling from £125
Micro needling uses vertical insertions to create thousands of tiny holes in the skin causing the release of growth factors which stimulate the breakdown of old fibrous collagen and stimulate new collagen and elastin development, a process that leads to skin tightening and remodeling.results are comparable and as effective to ablative treatments such as Fraxel and Laser Resurfacing, but at a fraction of the cost and with less downtime. The biggest advantage is the safety when it comes to changes in pigmentation. Fraxel treatment is very risky on certain skin types while Micro needling is relatively safe. The treatment is typically carried out at a 4 weeks intervals. Usually you should expect 3-4 sessions to see results.
Deep Chemical Peel
Medical Skin Peels from £80
Chemical peels are generally used all over the face (except around the eyes) but they can also be used to spot treat other areas of the skin, such as hands and neck. Keep in mind that usually more than one peel is necessary to get the desired results. A single peel will generally not work any miracles. However, with proper and consistent use, chemical peels can keep your skin looking young and healthy.

Dermaroller for treatment of acne scars, fine lines and wrinklesDermaroller treatment is a relatively new treatment and is a type of collagen induction therapy. It involves a process called "micro needling" where a simple handheld roller with an attached drum which has a number of needles (0.5mm- 2.0mm) is passed across the skin causing micro needling 0.5-1.5mm deep. This microneedling does not damage the epidermis and heals up within 2 days.Micro injury to scar tissue causes a number of changes including the breakdown of scar tissue and the formation of healthy new collagen, elastin and blood vessels. The process is again repeated at 6 weeks.
