Dr. David Gundersen is a dentist at First Choice Dental's Fitchburg location. Dr. Gundersen is a Wisconsin native, having grown up in La Crosse and having spent 14 years as a Madison resident before attending and earning his dental degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry. Prior to pursing a career in dentistry, Dr. Gundersen's career focused on promoting child and family education and health. He earned a BA from Yale University and a Masters in Public Health from Emory University, focusing on Health Policy and Management. He worked with Teach for America as a middle school science and health teacher for low income youth, and has worked with schools to improve the health and academic achievement of students as Director of School Health Programs for the State of Wisconsin. Dr. Gundersen has served as a board member of the Children's Health Alliance of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Public Health Association, and as the Marquette Student Trustee on the Wisconsin Dental Association Board of Trustees. His career also includes having served as Executive Director of the Wisconsin Tobacco Control Board. Professionally, Dr. Gundersen has earned a number of honors, but he is most proud of being named Teacher of the Year at Whaley Middle School in Compton, California. Now as a First Choice Dental dentist in Fitchburg, WI, Dr. Gundersen is committed to providing superior quality dental care for patients throughout Fitchburg and the Madison area. Dr. Gundersen enjoys staying active with his wife Amie and their daughter Lucie. He particularly enjoys traveling, reading, watching movies, competing in triathlons, cycling, hiking, sailing, downhill and cross country skiing, as well as spending time with friends and family around the dinner table.
