Biography:
Dr. Ryan S. Lee, DDS, MPH, MHA is a Dental/Oral Oncologist who provides customized dental and oral care for cancer patients before, during, and after treatment (e.g., chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and stem cell/bone marrow transplants). He focuses on the special needs of cancer patients via general & esthetic dentistry, oral surgery, implant & reconstructive dentistry, and sedation dentistry, as well as preventive care, cancer screenings, and pre-treatment exams. His clinical expertise involves adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients, both in the dental chair and in the operating room. Currently, Dr. Lee is an Assistant Professor at New York University, in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology, and Medicine at the Kriser Dental Center, College of Dentistry. His professional affiliations include the American Dental Association (ADA), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA), American Academy of Oral Medicine (AAOM), American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP), Special Care Dentistry Association (SCDA), International Association of Dental Research (IADR), and American Dental Education Association (ADEA). Prior to his academic appointment, he completed a 2-year Fellowship in Dental Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York, NY), one of the world's leading cancer hospitals. His clinical research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented in both international and national medical and dental societies. Dr. Lee obtained his clinical Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) at New York University, graduating with Honors. He was the recipient of the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award and a 2-time recipient of the President's Service Award. Dr. Lee also served as President of the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) and Editor of its national journal. Subsequently, he underwent residency training in hospital dentistry at Jersey City Medical Center (Jersey City, NJ), an affiliate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York, NY). He received rigorous training on the management of oro-facial trauma and dental treatment of medically-complex individuals. He also studied health administration and public health at Harvard University and A.T. Still University, and is currently completing a Doctorate in Public Health (Dr.P.H.) at City Univ. of New York, Graduate Center. His undergraduate degree obtained at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL). For the past 3 years, Dr. Lee has been serving the nation as Captain in the United States Army - New York Army National Guard, as a Dental Officer. In 2012, he had the privilege of visiting the White House, meeting the Surgeon General, and lobbying with political leaders as the sole dentist representative of the Army National Guard. In other service to his community. Dr. Lee travels to Haiti and Northeast Asia 2-3 times a year to lecture at medical/dental schools, as well as to provide free dental care for the underserved. He is a member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church (New York, NY), Reah International (a non-profit committed to innovative projects in North Korea), and For Hope International (a 501(c)(3) charity committed to sustainable health improvement in Haiti).
