Dr James A. Cox

Biography:
Dr. James Cox is a native Californian who has been practicing dentistry and living in the Palo Alto area for over 30 years. He graduated from Woodside High School in 1968 before attending the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he graduated with honors, with a Degree of Bachelor of Arts, and a major in Zoology on June 13, 1972. Dr. Cox received his dental training from the University of California at San Francisco School of Dentistry and graduated with honors in July, 1976. In the pursuit of excellence and advancement of patient care, Dr. Cox has made an extensive commitment to expanding his education. He has completed the world-renowned Nobel Biocare’s Surgical and Prosthetic Curriculum and utilizes the latest techniques in Oral Implantology. Dr. Cox has restored dental implants for nearly 30 years and has surgically placed implants for almost 10 years. Dr Cox is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Mid-Peninsula Dental Society, is Co-Chairman of the Mid-Peninsula Dental Society Peer Review. He is well known and is highly respected not only by his peers within Palo Alto but within other state Dental Societies. From the beginning of his career Dr. Cox has been committed to providing the highest standards of quality and care to his patients. During his first 15 years he not only became a master craftsman and dental artist in designing and creating his patients crowns, bridges and dentures but also became highly esteemed in the technical aspects of creating aesthic restorations. He has presented lectures to Dentists and Dental Laboratory Technicians on technical and aesthetic aspects of restoration. As a result of this commitment, our office is one of only a few in the country that has its own dental laboratory for the creation of dental restorations. When Dr. Cox is not working he loves to spend time with his wife and family. He is an avid snow skier, water skier and wake boarder, and loves to go off road motorcycling.

Dr Cristian Miranda

Dr. Cristian Miranda, a native Chilean, has been practicing dentistry for 18 years and living in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 27 years. He graduated from the University of California at San Francisco School of Dentistry in June, 1993. In pursuit of excellence, expanding his knowledge and care of his patients, Dr. Miranda has an extensive commitment to expanding his education. He has completed the world-renowned Nobel Biocare Procera Training Course at the University of Michigan. He has also completed Nobel Biocare’s Surgical and Prosthetic Curriculum and utilizes the latest techniques in Oral Implantology. An Academic Fellow of the American Academy of Oral Medicine, Dr. Miranda has furthered his expertise in diagnosing and treating oral muscosal and pre-cancerous lesions. Since 1998 he has been recognized for his outstanding service and education as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty at the Stanford University School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology. Dr Miranda is also a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Mid-Peninsula Dental Society; as well as The European Association of Oral Medicine and the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. When Dr. Miranda is not working he loves to travel, spend time with his son, Lucas and his extended family.

Dr W. Paul Brown

W. Paul Brown, DDS, FICD, FACD, is a Consulting Associate Professor, Stanford University School of Medicine, Division of Clinical Anatomy and Director of the Digital Anatomy program. Clinical Associate Professor, University of the Pacific and Clinical Assistant Professor UCSF School of Dentistry. He has been the Principal Investigator on 11 NIH grants involved with medical imaging, virtual reality and medical/dental surgical simulations and curriculum authoring. He lectures extensively internationally on the use of anatomical virtual reality models for research and education. Dr. Brown was in the private practice of clinical endodontics in Palo Alto, California for 27 years. He was the endodontist for the San Francisco Zoo and Marine World/Africa USA from 1982 until 2002, where he developed highly specialized endodontic instruments as well as performed endodontic and oral surgery procedures on exotic animals. He was the principal investigator for a research project for Alara Corp., Hayward, CA producing a comprehensive comparison of dental digital x-ray systems. He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He is currently the co-director for two Stanford University undergraduate courses, Digital Anatomy and Head & Neck Anatomy. He is also director of the summer intern program for exceptional High School and College students. Although he claims he is not good at the sport, in his spare time, he loves to play golf. He also is interested in wine chemistry. For the last 25 years, he and a group of associates have been dabbling with and making wine from Santa Lucia Highland grapes.
