All in all I felt this clinic is very friendly and professional Dental surgery

5 50 Dentures Adjustment

My lower denture which had been mounted on the bar system had broken and it was decided to make a new denture and mounting system. This proved quite difficult and time-consuming, however throughout this treatment Dr Nick was keeping me informed and mindful of my trepidation.

Towards the completion of this treatment Nick spent time over and above what had been allocated to make sure the fit of the denture was perfect, and for that I am very grateful. All in all I felt Forest & Ray are very friendly and professional Dental surgery and in particular Dr Nick.

5 50 Dentist Consultation

I want to say thank you to the whole team of the wonderful Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists Implant Surgeons. I was in a desperate state when I went to the clinic, my pain was very long and excruciating. I called the clinic and a wonderful lady at the reception listened to me, explained and made an appointment with the doctor as soon as possible!!! And it happened in a few days! This is really very fast.

You can also choose a convenient time for visiting the clinic. It is very convenient that the clinic is open on weekends. You can be in touch with the clinic staff from early morning until late at night. This is a completely patient oriented Clinic and it's wonderful!!! You feel like you're in a safe, professional place every second, talking to staff or sitting in the Doctor's Chair. Arriving at the clinic, I felt the highest professionalism of the service and the competence of the doctors.

My whole mouth hurt. Two teeth were in very bad condition. First, the doctor made a thorough diagnosis, removed the nerves, then cleaned the dental canals. I begged the doctor to save my teeth. And he did. I do not speak English well and the clinic staff provided me with a Russian-speaking doctor, to whom I will be grateful all my life.

Second thoughts have disappeared after I got a general check-up and my teeth cleaned.

5 50 Teeth Cleaning, Dental Checkup, Braces

I have visited Forest and Ray to get a plaque removal at first. I was so pleased with the pain-free experience and had numerous treatments since the first visit. The latest booking was in order to get braces. This is something I should have done as a child, but my parents could not afford it. After numerous consultations with different dentists and orthodontists, I have chosen Dr. Somos, and all I can say it that I'm more than satisfied!

I heard about Forest and Ray several times from friends/colleagues, but first I was a bit hesitant to try a new dentist. However, all my second thoughts have disappeared after I got a general check-up and my teeth cleaned. The staff was very friendly, as well, with a welcoming atmosphere.

Full dentures. Very informative about their care. Always very quick to respond and answer my questions on a procedure or concern I was having. Coming in from outside their area, this is fantastic. They make you feel like you're important, not just say it on a web page. I highly recommend looking into them for any work you would need and see how they can help you. If you're concerned about traveling to a location you don't, know they will help you.

Bone Graft

Bone Graft - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsBone Graft - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
The bone grafting procedure is quick and straightforward, but it can take up to six months to cure. The bone graft surgery will last 30 minutes to an hour and is an intrusive procedure in which your gums will be opened, and the bone grafting material, as well as the dental implant, will be put into the jawbone. Under anesthesia, this surgery is performed consciously. The area will be sewn, and the bone grafting material will be allowed to integrate with your jawbone's cells.

What is the purpose of a bone graft? A bone graft is required when there is insufficient bone material in your jaw to support a dental implant. After losing a tooth, the alveolus steadily disintegrates over time, and the bone density of the jaw reduces substantially, necessitating a bone transplant if the tooth is to be replaced. Before the surgery, your dentist will perform an X-ray and a hygiene session.

Braces

Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
Orthodontic braces are devices used in orthodontic treatment to straighten and align teeth, correct bite issues, and improve overall dental health. They consist of brackets, wires, and elastic bands that gradually work together to shift the teeth into the desired position over time.

Brackets are small metal or ceramic pieces attached to the teeth using a unique adhesive. Wires are then threaded through the brackets and adjusted periodically to apply gentle pressure to the teeth, guiding them into the correct position. Elastic bands help the wires apply the necessary force to the teeth.

Orthodontic braces can be made of different materials, including metal, ceramic, or plastic. They can also be customised with different colors and patterns to make them more personalized and fun for patients, especially children, and teenagers.

Orthodontic treatment with braces typically lasts for several months to several years, depending on the severity of the dental issues being addressed. Patients must follow a strict oral hygiene routine and attend regular appointments with their orthodontist to ensure good progress and adjustments.

Adult Braces

Adult Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsAdult Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
Orthodontic braces are not just for children and teenagers. An increasing number of adults are seeking orthodontic treatment to improve their dental health, appearance, and self-confidence. Orthodontic braces for adults work the same way as braces for children and teenagers. It may require longer treatment times due to the natural changes in adult teeth and bones.

Orthodontic braces for adults can correct a wide range of dental issues, including crooked teeth, crowded teeth, gaps between teeth, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. Furthermore, braces address problems with jaw alignment and alleviate discomfort or pain associated with these issues. Adults have several options for orthodontic braces, including traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, lingual braces (braces attached to the back of the teeth), and clear aligners (such as Invisalign or Spark Aligners). Your orthodontist can recommend the best option for your individual needs.

Orthodontic treatment with braces for adults requires a commitment to good oral hygiene and regular visits to the orthodontist for adjustments. Adults who are considering orthodontic treatment should consult with an orthodontist to discuss their options and develop a treatment plan that works best for them.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsCeramic Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Aesthetic braces are used to correct biting disorders, close gaps between teeth, straighten crooked teeth (which will become easier to clean after the treatment), and improve your smile's appearance. There is no age limit for orthodontics: after the jaws have finished growing, the orthodontic treatment can guide your teeth to a more favorable position to reach the best functional and aesthetic results.

If your orthodontic treatment at Forest and Ray cannot be supported by using aligners or if you would like to avoid the responsibility of having a removable appliance, aesthetic fixed braces may be the right choice for you.

Advantages of aesthetic braces: tooth-colored, aesthetic, small brackets, comfortable to wear, and capable of correcting most orthodontic problems, just like metal braces.

These appliances combine the effectiveness of traditional metal braces with the great advantage of a spotless look provided by clear brackets. They handle any problems that traditional fixed braces handle and are functionally the same. The only difference is that they are discreet, look smart, and are not associated with childhood. The white or transparent brackets blend into your natural tooth color perfectly, giving you the confidence to smile without anyone noticing you are wearing them.

Child Braces

Child Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Orthodontic treatment is indicated for kids to correct biting difficulties and crowded or crooked teeth in order to improve appearance. It is meant to avoid or block dental problems and make eventual treatment less challenging depending on the child's age and whether the jaws and face have finished growing.

Because the jawbones and face are still evolving, orthodontic treatment for children can differ significantly from adults. Some problems can be treated much more effectively at a younger age; therefore, it is critical to take your child to the dentist regularly, even if the permanent teeth are not visible yet.

Early orthodontic treatment can begin as early as the age of 6-7, potentially eliminating the need for more drastic treatment later on. There is something else to consider at this age: it is highly suggested that you tell your young children that there is no reason to be afraid of the dentist because dentists will help them keep their teeth healthy and their smile bright.

Clear Braces

Clear Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsClear Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Clear aligners are orthodontic teeth guards that help correct minor malocclusions. They are used when the orthodontic issue that has to be fixed is not severe enough to require traditional orthodontic braces.

Clear aligners are removable orthodontic braces that are gaining popularity in the ever-expanding field of adult orthodontics. They can be removed anytime, which many professionals consider essential daily. They are also a highly aesthetically pleasing solution because they are clear, transparent, and only visible under close inspection. Invisalign is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about clear aligners. It is the same as not wearing anything. However, other clear aligner treatments, such as the Spark Aligner system, provide excellent results. Let us have a look at these teeth-straightening choices!

Fixed Braces

from £3800

Metal Braces

Metal Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsMetal Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Fixed metal braces are our dental practice's most often-used orthodontic system. They are sometimes referred to as traditional braces. They are inexpensive and capable of addressing the majority of orthodontic issues. They may provide a less aesthetically pleasing appearance throughout treatment. However, they are the most efficient and cost-effective solution to align your teeth with fixed braces, even if they are not the most aesthetically pleasing option on the market today. It is currently the most extensively used appliance, with excellent results: elastic bands and brackets in various colors to display your individuality. While aligners cannot solve certain cases and removable devices are time-consuming, a fixed metal brace can handle all orthodontic problems since it applies consistent pressure to your teeth 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Your orthodontist will have complete control over the movement of your teeth with metal braces.

Orthodontic Retainer

Orthodontic Retainer - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsOrthodontic Retainer - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
An orthodontic retainer is a device used after orthodontic treatment to help maintain the position of the teeth and prevent them from shifting back. Retainers are custom-made to fit the individual patient's teeth. They are usually made of plastic or a combination of plastic and wire.

There are two main types of orthodontic retainers: fixed and removable. Fixed retainers consist of a thin wire bonded to the back of the teeth, commonly on the lower front teeth. This wire is invisible from the front and is designed to remain in place for several years or even permanently.

Removable retainers can be taken out by the patient for cleaning and eating. They are usually made of clear plastic or acrylic and fit over the teeth like a mouthguard. Patients will be instructed to wear their removable retainers day or night, depending on the recommendation of their orthodontist.

Orthodontic retainers are an important part of orthodontic treatment as they maintain the results achieved by braces or other orthodontic appliances. Patients must follow the instructions of their orthodontist regarding the wear and care of their retainers to prevent the teeth from shifting and the need for additional orthodontic treatment.

Removable Braces

Removable Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsRemovable Braces - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
Removable braces, or clear aligners, are orthodontic appliances the patient can remove. They are made of clear plastic and are custom-fit to the patient's teeth using advanced 3D scanning and modeling technology.

Removable braces are designed to gradually shift the teeth into the desired position over time, much like traditional braces. However, unlike conventional braces, they do not use brackets and wires. Instead, the clear aligners are changed every few weeks to shift the teeth into the desired position gradually.

Removable braces are a popular option for orthodontic treatment for several reasons:

  1. They are virtually invisible, making them a more aesthetically pleasing option than traditional braces.

  2. They are more comfortable than conventional braces because they do not have brackets and wires that can irritate the cheeks and lips.

  3. They are removable, meaning patients can continue to eat their favorite foods and maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing normally.

However, there may be better options than removable braces for everyone. They are generally most effective for treating mild to moderate cases of tooth misalignment. They may not be suitable for more complex orthodontic issues. Patients must also be committed to wearing their aligners as directed by their orthodontist, typically for 20-22 hours per day, to achieve the desired results.

Chipped Tooth Repair

Chipped Tooth Repair - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsChipped Tooth Repair - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
A chipped tooth occurs when a small piece of the tooth enamel, or the hard outer layer, breaks off. It can happen for various reasons, such as biting down on something hard, experiencing trauma to the face, or cavities.

Depending on the severity, the tooth may be sensitive, rough, or sharp to the touch. Sometimes, a chipped tooth can also lead to more serious dental problems, such as infection or tooth decay.

Fortunately, several options are available for repairing a chipped tooth, depending on the extent of the damage. These include:

  1. Dental Bonding: This is a procedure where a tooth-colored resin material is applied to the broken tooth and hardened with a special light to restore the tooth's appearance and function.

  2. Dental Veneers: These are thin, custom-made shells placed over the front of the teeth to improve their appearance. With proper care, veneers can cover up cracked teeth and last for many years.

  3. Dental Crowns: These are tooth-shaped caps placed over the damaged tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance.

  4. Root Canal Treatment: If the fragment has exposed the tooth's innermost layer that contains nerves and blood vessels, a root canal may be necessary to remove the damage and prevent infection.

  5. Tooth Extraction: In rare cases where the damage is too severe, the tooth may need to be extracted and replaced with a dental implant or bridge.

Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsDental Bridges - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

A dental bridge is a series of crowns used to repair one or more lost teeth in a row. Bridges are not only cosmetic but also required for normal oral functions. They are frequently used to address reoccurring issues, and many teeth are misaligned in the same location. By having some tooth stubs pulled or fashioned to hold a dental bridge, you will be restoring proper chewing function, which will maintain the rest of your teeth and ensure their longevity. Otherwise, you run the risk of causing further damage to your teeth.

A dental bridge is a row of dental crowns or artificial teeth fixed in artificial gum material or stabilizing substance. Crowns can be made of any material, although they are often tooth-colored porcelain with a metal or zirconium internal framework. The fake gum is usually made of resin or a metal foundation coated with a soft, hypoallergenic substance. Contact our Customer Care Team to schedule a consultation to explore what our dental bridges can do for you! Going in this direction, you can eliminate back and neck discomfort, TMJ disorders, jaw pain, and speech limitations caused by chewing on only one side.

3-Unit Bridge

Implant Bridge

Implant Bridge - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsImplant Bridge - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
An implant bridge is a dental bridge supported by dental implants instead of natural teeth. They are used to replace one or more missing teeth, made up of two or more crowns placed over the remaining teeth with a false tooth (or teeth) to seal the space.

With an implant bridge, one or more dental implants are placed into the jawbone to function as artificial tooth roots. The bridge is then attached to the implants, providing a stable and secure replacement for the missing teeth.

There are several advantages over traditional bridges that rely on natural teeth for support. For example:

  1. They are more stable, durable, and can last many years with proper care.

  2. They preserve the surrounding teeth by eliminating the need to sand down healthy teeth for support.

  3. They provide better chewing ability and comfort compared to traditional bridges.

  4. They can help to prevent bone loss in the jaw by stimulating the bone tissue, which can occur when teeth are missing.

Implant bridges are usually recommended for patients who are missing several teeth in a row and have sufficient bone density in their jaw to support this medical procedure. Our dentist can evaluate your oral health and determine if an implant bridge is the right option for you.

Maryland Bridge

Maryland Bridge - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
A Maryland bridge is a resin-bonded bridge used to replace a missing tooth. Unlike traditional dental bridges, which are anchored to the adjacent teeth using dental crowns, the maryland bridge is supported by a metal or porcelain framework bonded to the back of the adjacent teeth.

During the visit to the dentist, the adjacent teeth are prepared by removing a small amount of the outer tooth structure to make room for the bridge. An impression of the teeth is then taken and sent to a dental laboratory. In your second consultation, the dentist will check the fit and make any necessary adjustments before bonding the framework to the back of the adjacent teeth using dental adhesive. The false tooth is then attached to the framework, completing the bridge.

Maryland bridges offer several advantages over traditional dental bridges, including:

  1. Minimal tooth preparation.

  2. Quick and easy procedure.

  3. No need for dental crowns.

  4. Natural-looking appearance.

Maryland bridges may not be recommended for patients who grind their teeth or have poor oral hygiene, as this can cause the bridge to become dislodged or damaged over time.

PFM Bridge

Porcelain Bridge

Porcelain Bridge - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsPorcelain Bridge - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
A porcelain bridge is a dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth, made up of strong, durable ceramic material that looks natural. They are custom-made to match the color, shape, and size of the surrounding teeth, making them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

The process of getting a porcelain bridge involves several visits to the dentist. During the first visit, the dentist will prepare the abutment teeth by removing a small amount of tooth enamel to make room for the bridge. Impressions of the teeth will then be taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where the bridge will be fabricated.

Once the bridge is ready, the dentist will check the fit and make any necessary adjustments before permanently cementing it into place. With proper care and maintenance, a porcelain bridge can last many years, providing a stable and natural-looking replacement for missing teeth.

Porcelain bridges are a popular option for dental restoration because they offer several advantages, including:

  1. A natural-looking appearance that blends in with surrounding teeth.

  2. High durability and strength.

  3. The ability to improve chewing and speaking ability.

  4. Preservation of the natural tooth structure.

  5. Increased self-confidence and improved overall oral health.

Dental Crowns

Dental Crowns - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsDental Crowns - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
A dental crown is a dental restoration used to shield a damaged or decayed tooth. Crowns are custom-made to fit over the entire tooth, from the chewing surface to the gum line, and are designed to restore the tooth's shape, size, strength, and appearance.

Dental crowns can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain, ceramic, metal, and composite resin. Each material has its advantages and disadvantages, and the choice will depend on the patient's needs and preferences.

This procedure involves several visits to the dentist. During the first visit, the dentist will prepare the tooth by removing a small amount of the outer tooth structure to make room for the crown. Impressions of the prepared tooth will then be taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where the crown will be fabricated.

Once the crown is prepared, the dentist will check the fit and make any required adjustments before permanently cementing it into place. With proper care and maintenance, a dental crown can last many years, providing a strong and natural-looking restoration for the damaged tooth.

Dental crowns are commonly used to:

  1. Protect a weak or decayed tooth from further damage.

  2. Restore a broken or worn-down tooth.

  3. Cover a dental implant.

  4. Improve the appearance of a misshapen or discolored tooth.

  5. Anchor a dental bridge.

  6. Protect a tooth after root canal therapy.

Dental crowns can improve overall oral health, restore function, and enhance the appearance of the smile.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsDental Implants - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Dental implants are the best option for replacing your missing teeth. In fact, dental implants are the latest dental replacements dentistry can offer. However, even though they function and feel just like natural teeth and do not suffer from the weaknesses of the other options, they are expensive and are not affordable by everyone. Although, as per my thinking dental implants are still quite cost effective in view of the quality of life they permit. If, for some reason you cannot be given implants, or you do not want to choose implants, I am discussing some of the other teeth replacement options that you can consider:

- Tooth supported bridge: The replacement tooth (pontic) is supported on crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side.

- Removable partial dentures: The dentures sit on the gum, and take support by suction or adhesive. Grinding down of the adjacent teeth is not required.

- Maryland bridges or resin-bonded bridges are used where too much chewing stress is not expected, ie, in restoring a lost front tooth.

- Replacing multiple teeth: If you want to replace just one or two teeth a fixed bridge is possible as alternative to implants.

- Replacing all teeth: The alternative to implants is the complete removable denture (conventional denture).

"All-on-4" term refers to “all” teeth being supported “on four” dental implants. As a result, just 4 implants can replace all teeth in your upper or lower jaw even in a day!

The first step is a thorough consultation at Forest & Ray, where the implantologist explains the procedure, examines your teeth, makes an X-ray, and refers you to a CT scan. We carefully assess all the information. If you are eligible for the treatment and happy with our proposal, we can book you for the implant placement.

On the day of the surgery all 4 implants are inserted in the morning. The procedure is easy and painless (implants are inserted under local anaesthetic) and safe for your health. Our technician will work hard to get your teeth done and within a few hours, you will leave with your brand new smile.

The ultimate healing time, when the implants incorporate into your jawbone, is around 3 months. During this time you will see us a couple of times to monitor your progress. After the healing time, we will prepare your permanent teeth within a few short appointments to make you smile happily every day.

Dental Implants: the process of osseointegration is the real secret behind the success of dental implants. Osseointegration is a natural process that is as important to the success of the dental (and other implants) as the story of its discovery is interesting. Like many very useful scientific discoveries, the process of what we now call osseointegration also came to light by chance.

It was in 1940, almost a century ago, that Bothe and colleagues were experimenting with titanium as a prosthesis material for fractures in animal legs. Since that time, osseointegration has been studied extensively. As of 2016, titanium alloys are the preferred choice for dental implants and other surgical implants. The alloying is done to modify the mechanical properties of titanium as desired.

Bone cells grow onto the surface of the metal, and the bond is mature in three to six months. It is for this reason that in routine implant placement procedures, dentists like to give a gap of about three to six months after installation of implants before a prosthesis is built over them. When implants are loaded in a single day, the dentists advise patients not to burden their implants with hard food initially. We shall discuss more conventional and same-day implant loading in more detail in the preceding chapters.

Single Implant

Single Implant - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsSingle Implant - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Dental Implants: one of the main procedures that our dentistry prides itself. Dental implants are relatively new implements are the only way to truly replace missing teeth, and to replace every part of teeth that are no longer in the mouth. It is vitally important to replace missing teeth, otherwise the health of the rest of your teeth, jaw joints and mouth will be compromised.

If teeth are missing, the alveolus, that soft ridge of bone underneath the gums starts to deteriorate, leading to further tooth loss, and the cycle begins. To stop this cycle, artificial tooth roots called dental implants need to be inserted into the alveolus. Missing teeth can also lead to TMJ problems, back and neck pain, speech impediments and a whole slew of dental problems.

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots which are inserted in the jaw bone and used to replace missing teeth. An implant can replace one tooth or with only 4 implants in one arch all the upper or lower teeth can be replaced as 4 implants can support an entire arch of teeth.

The ultimate tool for total tooth replacement, and the only way to fight tooth loss, dental implants are artificial tooth roots that can house a crown, thus replacing all of the parts of a tooth, restoring normal chewing functions completely.

Dental X-Ray

Dental X-Ray - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsDental X-Ray - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
A dental X-ray is a necessary procedure for many dental treatments. They may become essential if you plan on getting endodontics, meaning root canal treatments and any other treatments dealing with the inside of the teeth, dental implants, tooth extractions (especially wisdom teeth removal) and most oral surgery procedures. Because things change in your mouth very quickly, dental X-rays older than three months cannot be used for dental treatment. There are basically three different kinds of X-rays to choose from.

- Single tooth X-rays

- Bitewings

- OPG X-ray

While all X-rays are carcinogenic, they are no more harmful to your health than a walk through any European city that follows car traffic. The idea that X-rays are harmful has been hyped out of proportion on the internet, and many people are afraid of getting dental X-rays. They are necessary, and having an active bacterial infection in your mouth is a thousand times worse than a short blast of gamma radiation every few years.

Dental X-rays are a necessary procedure for many dental treatments. They may become necessary if you plan on getting endodontics, meaning root canal treatments and any other treatments dealing with the inside of the teeth, dental implants, tooth extractions, and most oral surgery procedures. There are three different kinds of X-rays to choose from.

- Single tooth X-rays

Sometimes only one tooth is affected by the dental treatment that will be performed, an X-ray of a single tooth, or 2-3 teeth maximum is enough. This has the lowest dose of gamma radiation and is the easiest to make. Used frequently during root canals and easier tooth extractions.

- Bitewings

Bitewing X-rays check the molars of a given side of your face and are a little bit bigger and more complex than single-tooth X-rays. These X-rays give an idea about what is going on in the back of the mouth, and how the teeth align and how the molars are doing. These are frequently used in orthodontics but can be used for tooth extractions and root canals.

- Opg X-ray

Panoramic dental X-rays (abbreviated as OPGs, which indeed is an abbreviated form of the word Orthopantomagram) allow the dentist to view all of your teeth, their relation to one another, and how they are positioned in your jawbone. They can give the dentist a very precise idea of how your teeth are aligned with one another.

Dentist Consultation

Dentist Consultation - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsDentist Consultation - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

A dental consultation is the first meeting with our dental staff. They will examine your mouth to diagnose any issues and create a treatment plan for you. This plan will outline the treatments the dentist recommends.

During the consultation, you'll get to know your dentist and ask any questions you may have. This is important because, without a consultation, the dentist can't proceed with any treatment. The consultation is the basis for the dentist to understand the issues with your teeth, what treatment is necessary, and the cost of the treatment. This information is written down in a treatment plan, which is essential for both the dentist and the patient.

The consultation allows you to ask any questions and express any concerns you may have. This helps you make an informed decision about whether to proceed with the treatment.

Your first consultation with your dentist may take a little longer than the usual 45 minutes. During this time, your dentist will ask about your medical history, so it's important to be honest.

They will also examine your teeth and may even check the soft tissues of your mouth to ensure everything is in good condition and make a proper diagnosis. However, no treatment will start without further discussion with your dentist.

Dentures

Dentures - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Dentures are rows of artificial teeth or dental crowns, that are meant to replace an entire row of teeth, or most of one that has been missing. Dentures are not attached to natural teeth, dentures can come in a variety of materials, and can be made with or without an artificial gum material to anchor the row of crowns. Usually, dentures are removable, and are adhered or the force of suction keeps them in place, or they are attached to a bite plate that goes over the roof of the mouth. But they can also be attached to dental implants, and can be removable or fixed.

Acrylic Dentures

Acrylic Dentures - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsAcrylic Dentures - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
Acrylic dentures are removable appliances used to replace missing teeth. They are made of a solid, plastic material known as acrylic resin, which is custom-made to fit the patient's mouth. They are anchored to remaining teeth using metal clasps or attachments for added stability, supported by the gums and underlying bone.

The process of getting acrylic dentures involves several visits to the dentist. During the first visit, the dentist will take impressions of the patient's mouth and create a wax model of the teeth and gums. Once the acrylic denture is finished, the dentist will check the fit and make necessary adjustments. Patients may need to visit the dentist several times in the weeks following the initial fitting to ensure that the denture is comfortable and fits appropriately.

Acrylic dentures offer several advantages over other types of dental restorations, including:

  1. They are relatively affordable compared to other dental restorations.

  2. They are removable, which allows for easy cleaning and maintenance.

  3. They can be adjusted or repaired easily if they become damaged.

  4. They restore a patient's ability to eat and speak normally.

However, acrylic dentures may also have some disadvantages, such as:

  1. They may not be as durable as other dental restorations.

  2. They may cause some discomfort or irritation in the mouth.

  3. They may need to be replaced or adjusted as the gums and bone structure change.

  4. They may not provide as natural-looking or comfortable a fit as other types of dental restorations.

Fixed Partial Dentures

Fixed Partial Dentures - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsFixed Partial Dentures - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Having an implant supported denture can give you back the ability to chew and smile like you would with your natural teeth. As you do not need any adhesive to keep your denture in place, it is not only more comfortable but allows you to eat all types of food with confidence and without pain.

The denture itself is attached to implants which are previously inserted into the jaw bone by the oral surgeon. Implant supported dentures can give you back the ability to chew like you would with your natural teeth and are known about their long-term durability.

Dental implants are used to replace one or more missing teeth. Due to their stability and durability, only 4 implants are enough to support an entire denture, so even if you have lost the majority of your teeth you can still benefit from the advantages of dental implants with an implant- supported denture.

Why choose an implant supported denture?

- Getting a dental implant is the most secure way of tooth replacement.

- Improved speech and appearance. Your smile will look natural and you do not have to worry about a poor-fitting or sliding denture when speaking.

- Comfortable and permanent. You can eat, speak and sleep comfortably without the need of any adhesive.

- Easier eating. Implant-supported dentures function like natural teeth, allowing you to chew all types of food without any discomfort.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom Tooth Extraction - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsWisdom Tooth Extraction - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Wisdom teeth removal is recommended when there is not enough room for the wisdom teeth to grow properly, and they become stuck within your jaw. In other cases wisdom teeth start growing at an angle to other teeth, pushing the neighbouring molars and often causing pain, swelling and bite problems. In most cases, a wisdom tooth is uncomfortable and painful, pushing against your set of teeth.

The experience with wisdom teeth is different for everyone. For some of us, wisdom teeth can erupt without any problem. For many of us, on the other hand, wisdom teeth can cause a huge amount of pain and discomfort in some cases, even resulting in inflammation or infection.

Wisdom teeth are located at the back of the mouth, and often they are called third molars. They are the final teeth to erupt and usually appear between your late teens and mid-twenties. When they are not in the right position or when there is not enough room for them to erupt, they can emerge only partially, providing a place for bacteria to grow.

If your wisdom tooth is growing irregularly, is positioned horizontally or is angled toward or away from the neighbouring tooth, the procedure will be done by an oral surgeon due to its complexity. The surgeon opens your gum with a small cut, extracts the wisdom teeth and sews the wound. This process is also painless; the operation is done under local anaesthetic.

Fillings

Fillings - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsFillings - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

A tooth filling is a basic reconstructive dental procedure. The most basic unit of conservative dentistry, tooth fillings, is a dental procedure that everyone has heard about. Around 75-80% of adults have tooth fillings, so it is the most popular and well-known method of trying to preserve teeth and heal them back to functionality. They are used before problems with the teeth become severe but when intervention is already needed. They basically seal off the damaged tooth and repair it so that it can be used again without fear of further damage. Dental fillings can become necessary despite a vigorous at-home oral hygiene routine.

Composite fillings are tiny pieces of composite resin that are inserted into a cavity on a tooth to seal it off later and to prevent the tooth enamel from decaying further. Getting a dental filling takes about half an hour to about an hour and a half, depending on how damaged the tooth is, where the cavity is, and how easy it is to get to.

Amalgam fillings are bad news because they can cause brain damage and cancer and can constantly weaken the immune system slightly, thus making you overall more prone to infections and less able to fight off microbes and infections.

The fillings we use instead are made of a composite artificial resin. This material hardens and sticks to teeth, does not lose weight like amalgam fillings, and does not leach mercury.

Cleaner, whiter teeth not only make you look and feel good. They also ensure fresh breath, help you feel confident, give you a brighter smile, and are vital to maintaining healthy oral hygiene. One of the methods our dentists use to achieve this result at Forest & Ray Dental Practice is airflow polishing.

Unlike some cleaning procedures, airflow polishing is a painless, fast, and non-invasive method for removing stains and tartar below the gum line. It whitens the teeth while removing discolorations from food, beverages, and smoking to prevent future problems like periodontal disease.

Inlay or Onlay

Inlay or Onlay - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsInlay or Onlay - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
A dental inlay is a dental restoration used to repair a damaged or decayed tooth. Inlays are custom-made to fit into the prepared cavity or space in the tooth and are bonded to the tooth surface to restore its shape, function, and strength. They are made from various materials, including gold, porcelain, or composite resin. Gold inlays are the most durable, while porcelain inlays are more aesthetically pleasing, matching the surrounding teeth's color.

During the first visit, the dentist will remove the decay from the tooth and prepare it for the inlay. Afterward, he will take an impression of the damaged tooth and send it to a dental laboratory, where the dental technician will customise the inlay. Once the inlay is back at the dental practice, the dentist will check the fit and make any necessary adjustments before bonding it to the tooth surface using a dental sealant. With proper care and maintenance, a dental inlay can last many years, providing a solid and natural-looking.

Dental inlays are commonly used to repair moderate to large cavities or to replace old or damaged fillings. They offer several advantages over traditional dental fillings, including:

  1. Better strength and durability.

  2. A natural-looking appearance that blends in with surrounding teeth.

  3. Preservation of more of the natural tooth structure.

  4. Resistance to staining and discoloration.

  5. Reduced risk of tooth fracture or damage.

Spark Aligner One Arch

Spark Aligner One Arch - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsSpark Aligner One Arch - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
Nowadays, aesthetics play a considered role in health-related decisions. Patients ask for aesthetic options that are less noticeable. This phenomenon is having an increasing impact on the orthodontistry field.

Several brands of clear aligners on the market, Spark Aligners among them, can help to achieve the smile you desire. Most are a good option for non-severe orthodontic cases or patients who don't require much movement to achieve proper alignment.

You are no longer required to straighten your teeth with metal braces. Your teeth will straighten as part of the orthodontic treatment plan using a set of personalised, transparent plastic aligners with a unique wear dot. Spark Aligners are made using an entirely digital procedure that begins with a tridimensional scan of your teeth. The cutting-edge technology creates your new smile, consisting of transparent aligners explicitly fitted to your teeth.

The standard course of treatment prevails for around a year. Like traditional metal braces, Spark Aligners by Ormco gradually and gently reposition your teeth in tiny increments, allowing the ligaments to stretch and contract naturally. After wearing each set of upper and lower aligners for around two weeks, the patient switches to the new pair of transparent trays. Except when you eat, clean your teeth, and floss, you'll wear your aligners for about 20 to 22 hours daily.

Invisalign both Arches

Invisalign both Arches - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsInvisalign both Arches - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
Invisalign is a trademark known worldwide, and they produce removable braces and clear aligners, among other things. It works with gentle forces, aligning the teeth almost entirely invisibly. It is a highly hygienic orthodontic method because you can take it out at any time and clean it. It is made of particular medical-grade plastic.

The dentist will examine your teeth and set up a diagnosis during the first consultation session, which will help determine if you can use this orthodontic treatment method. The orthodontist will then take an impression of your teeth and call you back in about two days. Suppose Invisalign can be used to treat you. In that case, the dentist will make a study model of your teeth and send the study model and your x-rays to Invisalign headquarters. There, a series of clear aligners will be made, with each one being one step closer to the final result that you and your dentist had envisioned. After the first aligner is in place, you may feel uncomfortable, but it will soon subside, and you will get used to the feeling in a day or so, and you should feel no further troubles during treatment. An aligner is usually worn for around 1-2 weeks, and a consultation session with your orthodontist is necessary at around these intervals, so s/he can change the aligners in time.

After your last aligner, you will receive a retainer, which works the same as regular retainers. Retainers come in two kinds; fixed and removable, and one will be assigned to you. It is important to wear your retainer, as the teeth naturally tend to return to their original position. Suppose you cannot wear the retainer for a day or two. In that case, it should not be a problem, as the retainer should be able to push your teeth back into position, as it can act as a very light orthodontic brace. If your teeth return for any reason to their old position for up to 2 years, then correction treatments are free of charge.

Invisalign™

Invisalign™ - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsInvisalign™ - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
Invisalign is a brand of clear aligners used to straighten and align teeth. These orthodontic appliances are made of transparent plastic material that is virtually invisible when worn, making them a popular alternative to traditional metal braces.

The Invisalign treatment process involves the following steps:

  1. Consultation: A consultation with an Invisalign provider to determine if Invisalign is the right option for you and to design a customised treatment plan.

  2. Treatment planning: Using the 3D model, the Invisalign provider will conceive a treatment plan that outlines the teeth' movements and the treatment duration.

  3. Aligner fabrication: A series of custom-made aligners are created based on the treatment plan. Each aligner is slightly different and designed to shift the teeth into the desired position over time gradually.

  4. Aligner wear: The patient wears the aligners for 20-22 hours per day, removing them to eat and brush their teeth. The aligners are changed every 1-2 weeks.

  5. Follow-up appointments: The patient visits their Invisalign provider frequently to ensure treatment is progressing as planned and to make any necessary adjustments.

Invisalign can effectively address various orthodontic issues, including crowded teeth, gaps between teeth, overbites, underbites, and crossbites.

Orthodontist Consultation - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsOrthodontist Consultation - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Orthodontics focuses on adjusting your bite and straightening your teeth for oral health and cosmetic reasons. The physical manipulation of the existing teeth and structures provides the foundation for tooth movement. Throughout the orthodontic treatment, this procedure is repeated multiple times so that you may observe gradual but steady growth. Depending on the patient's age and oral health, the process could take up to 18 months.

Depending upon the diagnosis of your case, certain teeth may need to be removed before beginning orthodontic treatment. There can be a lack of space for all teeth to fit within the jaw. The teeth may be crowded. Malocclusions make teeth challenging to clean, leading to cavities and gum disease. Strengthening your teeth in Central London is a way to improve the beauty of your smile.

Orthodontic treatment has a variety of benefits. These essential advantages can give you completely straight teeth if you are self-conscious about crooked teeth. If you require further dental treatments, it helps to have a properly aligned jaw and bite, and you may find it easier to speak and eat with well-arranged teeth. By shifting the teeth into a more controllable position, you may ensure that you are thoroughly clean between teeth, reducing gum disease. Clear aligners or traditional braces can correct crowding or spacing, improving the bite and aligning the teeth in four stages: aligning the edge, correcting, finishing and retaining.

When sugars from the food you eat are not cleaned away, a sticky biofilm develops on the surface of your teeth. Daily brushing and flossing remove most of the plaque on your teeth daily. Any remains eventually harden because they can not be removed by dental care at home.

In some areas, like behind your lower front teeth, detritus can easily accumulate between your teeth and gums. A dentist or a hygienist can use a scaling instrument to remove the debris to prevent cavities and periodontal disease.

Periodontal diseases are infections in the structures around the teeth, but not in the actual teeth themselves. Periodontal treatment is recommended when you experience sensitive, swollen, or bleeding gums, bad breath, suddenly sensitive teeth, or gum recession. The treatment also offers a solution for gingivitis or loose teeth.

If you refuse to visit the dentist, even following the most extensive and cautious at-home oral health regimen will leave the mouth with trace amounts of bacteria. Even if you floss and rinse with mouthwash every day, the roots of your teeth beneath the gum line will collect germs that cause tooth decay, periodontitis, and other dental issues.

Root Canals

Root Canals - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsRoot Canals - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Root canal treatments are one of the more advanced tools of conservative dentistry, aimed at keeping your tooth functioning for as long as possible. During a root canal treatment procedure, the inside of the tooth is removed, essentially killing the tooth, but reinforcing it, making sure it keeps good and can be in the mouth properly fulfilling its function for as long as a decade, depending on the circumstances. This is a last ditch effort to save the tooth, and is frequently the last procedure used before a tooth extraction becomes inevitable.

A root canal treatment requires several trips to the dentist. During the first visit, the inside of the tooth will be removed, and the bacterial infection along with it. The root canals will be enlarged and shaped, and a medicated root filling will be provided in order to kill off the bacterial infection in the tooth. The face will likely swell up, and the process will need to be repeated several times in order to get all of the bacteria out. During subsequent visits, the root filling will be changed, and the tooth drained of pus.

The final root filling you will receive will be one that fills up all of the tooth, including the inside. This will result in a strengthened, albeit dead tooth, with no feeling that is not connected to the nervous system.

Sinus Lift

Sinus Lift - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsSinus Lift - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Sinus Lift: a rare oral surgical procedure, sinus lifts are performed only on the upper jaw and on the teeth near the sinus cavity. If an upper canine has been missing for a long time, the tissue between the sinuses and the oral cavity will become thinner and unable to house a dental implant. In these cases, the dental implants may actually poke out into the sinus cavity. This is unhealthy and potentially dangerous, leading to a higher risk of infections. This is where a sinus lift comes in. It is the surgical augmentation of the sinuses, making them somewhat smaller and providing a layer where the dental implant can be housed in.

The procedure is fairly simple. It takes roughly 45 minutes and involves invasive oral surgery. One of the upper quadrants will be opened while you are under local anaesthesia. After that, your dentist will insert some bone grafting material into the bottom of the sinus cavity, which will later integrate and make your bone grow and strengthen. The entire area will be sewn shut, and you will be left to heal for around six months

Teeth Cleaning

Teeth Cleaning - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsTeeth Cleaning - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Teeth cleaning—usually performed by a dental hygienist– is a very effective procedure for removing tartar (mineralized plaque) that may develop even with careful brushing and flossing, especially in areas that are difficult to reach in routine brushing. Because it is essential to remove the tartar below the gum line and above it, getting your teeth professionally cleaned by a dental hygienist at least twice a year is a must.

Teeth cleaning with special dental tools removes harmful plaque, calculus (hardened plaque), and bacteria that can’t be removed at home by simply brushing or flossing– regardless of how vigorously you brush or floss. Professional teeth cleaning will include tooth scaling and root planning and tooth polishing and debridement if too much tartar has accumulated and can prevent cavities, gingivitis, and periodontal disease.

The shortest hygiene session is around 20 minutes, while the longest lasts about one hour but is reserved for only the most extreme cases, and these sessions can last shorter the more frequently you get them. As a true time saver, we recommend getting the treatment every half-year check-up, which is a necessary part of your oral health and is highly recommended.

The best you can do is to see a dental hygienist near you to get proper advice on maintaining good oral health!

Scaling and Root Planing

Scaling and Root Planing - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsScaling and Root Planing - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Healthy teeth are essential for any smile makeover. That’s why it is a good idea to ensure your teeth and gums are in top condition before considering any cosmetic treatment. Regular check-ups with your dentist and hygienist are highly recommended to keep your smile sparkling.

The results of a professional scale and polish can be pleasantly surprising. Every half a year, a dental cleaning session removes stains and tartar that have built upon the surface of your teeth and will improve the appearance of your smile, leaving your teeth looking much whiter and brighter. You can maintain these results with a first-class brushing and flossing routine at home.

Ultrasonic Scaling

Ultrasonic Scaling - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsUltrasonic Scaling - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons
Ultrasonic scaling is a standard procedure performed during a hygiene consultation to remove plaque and tartar buildup from the teeth and gums. A dental hygienist performs the procedure. Before starting, a thorough examination of the teeth and gums may precede it.

It is a kind of cleaning that uses a unique instrument called an ultrasonic scaler uses high-frequency vibrations and a fine stream of water to break up and remove the buildup of plaque and tartar from the teeth. The scaler is designed to be gentle on the teeth and gums while effectively removing stubborn deposits that cannot be removed by brushing and flossing alone. Your teeth will be polished to remove any remaining stains and to give them a smooth, shiny surface.

Ultrasonic scaling is an important part of preventive dental care because it prevents gum disease, tooth decay, and other dental problems. The procedure is pain-free and does not require any anesthesia. However, patients with sensitive teeth or gums may experience some discomfort.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsTeeth Whitening - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Tooth Whitening: the main problem many patients have with their smiles is that they are not confident with the colour of their teeth and the shades. Fortunately, this works ideally for those patients; this is the most straightforward remedy with our tooth whitening sessions! A dentist or a dental hygienist can perform this procedure, and tooth whitening sessions are the most popular non-reconstructive dental treatment. Below we will hopefully give you all the information you need about our tooth whitening sessions.

A tooth whitening session is when the dentist chemically alters the colour of your teeth and whitens them up to 4-5 shades brighter. This is done by applying a chemical to the teeth and either shining a light on it to break off the staining agents or repeatedly exposing the teeth to the chemicals in question to get the stains off.

This procedure is safe and will not harm your teeth or your health. Usually, tooth whitening sessions are coupled with a hygiene session, so it is not purely aesthetic; it also has a health benefit. The teeth are also frequently polished after a tooth whitening session, making the tooth surfaces smooth and shiny and making it very difficult for bacteria to start living on the tooth surfaces.

Home Whitening Kits

Most people desire to have a sparkling white smile. However dark beverages, tobacco and even colourful fruits and vegetables can stain teeth over time. But with the procedure called “take-home whitening” you can effectively brighten your teeth at home through a process that is custom designed for you.

To begin, a shade guide is used to record the colour of your teeth before treatment. Next, impressions are taken from your mouth. Impressions are used to model the exact shape of your teeth. The models are used to create whitening trays that fit your mouth perfectly so that only your teeth are in contact with the bleaching agent in order to lessen gum sensitivity. Once your custom trays the ready, you'll be given a bleaching gel that will best suit your needs. You will be advised to apply the gel to the trace and how often to use the product.

To begin whitening your teeth at home, first, thoroughly brush and floss your teeth. Then, put the recommended amount of whitening gel in your custom trays. Once the trade is in place, wipe away any excess gel. The carbamide peroxide in the gel then penetrates the enamel and breaks down stain deposits. When the time is up, remove the trays and clean your mouth and trays thoroughly. Repeat this procedure as recommended to achieve the desired results. When your treatment is complete your teeth will be noticeably wider. On your next visit, a shade guide will be used to record your success.

Veneers

Veneers - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant SurgeonsVeneers - Forest & Ray - Dentists, Orthodontists, Implant Surgeons

Veneers are a thin layer of tooth-coloured porcelain that is adhered to your teeth. With dental veneers, you are simply covering your natural teeth and attaching another layer of a tooth-like material to achieve the look you wish to achieve. In this way, any aspect of your teeth can be changed with dental veneers: their shape, their size, their colour, anything.

Your teeth are first filed down and then shaped accordingly to the dental veneers. Then our dental laboratory will make the dental veneers that you wished for, in the size and shape they need to be in.

The process of getting dental veneers: Dental veneers can take up to a week! First, you need to attend our practice for a consultation session with the dentist. During this session, you will need to describe to the doctor exactly what you wish to improve.

We recommend observing and looking at your smile first, and deciding what exactly it is you wish to change, and where it is in the mouth. After this, you and the dentist can come to an agreement on where you will get veneers, how many of them you will need, and what they will look like. After this, the dentist will adjust your original teeth to be able to house the dental veneers. This means a thin layer will be taken off of the tooth surfaces, and the length and other aspects of the teeth will be adjusted.
