About Smiles Dental - Alderley Edge

We are proud of the personal service we provide. Our highly qualified, friendly staff go beyond the ordinary, to give you an individual experience as we are all aware of how emotive a visit to the dentist can be. We understand some apprehension is natural before a dental appointment and we make every effort to ensure you remain as comfortable and relaxed as possible. For our less able bodied patients we have a ramp to the rear of the building and a downstairs surgery. We also have a downstairs bathroom. A hearing loop is provided on reception. Large print information can be printed at your request. Any member of staff would be more than happy to read out and explain any of our information. .

Dental Implants

Whether you have full dentures, partial dentures or a single missing tooth, implants are the answer. They look natural, feel natural and can prevent further bone loss and the resulting “sagging” of facial tissues when teeth are lost. Many patients experience tooth loss – whether it be a single tooth that is lost or multiple teeth. New advances and technical innovations make it possible to replace missing single teeth permanently, using a titanium dental implant, without treating or touching adjacent teeth, and the end result is that only you will know that you have ever lost a tooth. People affected by tooth loss often find eating in public difficult and traumatic or are not confident about their smile. When teeth are lost your jawbone actually shrinks away, and from scientific research we know that wearing dentures accelerates this process. This in turn affects the muscle tone to the face reducing bone support for the lips and cheeks eventually leading to a typical denture look as immortalised by famous cartoons, where the lips and lower part of the face have collapsed producing an ageing effect on the individuals appearance.

Teeth Cleaning

We offer Full Mouth Disinfection (FMD) carried out by hygienist to patients who need extensive gum treatment under local anaesthetic. It has been established that patients of a non-surgical therapy are better off having gum treatment in one visit rather that over a period of several weeks.FMD is beneficial because it removes the bacteria present in the mouth in one treatment, and is sometimes combined with a weeks’ course of systematic antibiotics, given at the time of FMD.As a patient, we ask that you practice good oral hygiene, be prepared to have a life changing way of looking after your teeth and gums and accept that regular dental examinations and periodontal maintenance will be necessary.Details45 minute Initial Assessment2 x 90 minute Appointments (same day, morning then afternoon)45 minute re-evaluation (6 weeks later)
