Dr. Cakin graduated from the University of Bristol in 2005 and subsequently undertook advanced hospital-based training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Medicine, Paediatric Dentistry, and Restorative Dentistry across specialist units throughout the South West, including Bristol Dental Hospital. During this time, he also gained experience in private practice, providing aesthetic dental treatments. Dr. Alex Brett is a UK-trained Specialist Endodontist, a protected title awarded only to dentists who have met the rigorous clinical and professional standards established by the General Dental Council in the field of Endodontics. He accepts referrals for all aspects of endodontic care, including root canal treatment, root canal retreatment, file and post removal, perforation repair, apical microsurgery, and the management of dental resorption. Committed to providing the highest standard of specialist care, Dr. Brett completed a four-year Clinical Master's degree in Endodontology with Distinction. In addition, he has successfully completed membership examinations with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and has been awarded Membership in Endodontics by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Dr. Ana Gamboa is a highly accomplished Periodontist, academic, and researcher with extensive international experience in clinical care, education, and periodontal research. She graduated from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 1997 and subsequently spent four years in the Periodontics Department of the Brazilian Navy, where she gained valuable specialist experience. During this period, she also participated in three outreach missions to the Amazon region, providing essential dental care to remote riverside communities. In 2002, Dr. Gamboa moved to the United Kingdom, where she pursued advanced academic training at Queen Mary University of London. She completed a Master's degree in Dental Public Health followed by a PhD in Oral Epidemiology, focusing her research on the relationship between psychological stress and periodontal disease. Dr. Gamboa has built an impressive academic career alongside her clinical practice. In 2008, she became a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool, before returning to Queen Mary University of London in 2010, where she served as Lead for the MSc in Dental Public Health programme. In 2014, she was awarded a prestigious Academic Clinical Lecturer (ACL/NIHR) position, enabling her to dedicate significant clinical time to the management of complex multidisciplinary periodontal cases. Dr. Grossman graduated in Dentistry from the University of Manchester before completing Dental Foundation Training in Bedford. He then undertook two years of Dental Core Training in London, beginning with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Royal London Hospital, where he gained the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery. He subsequently completed a year in Oral Surgery at Guy's Hospital, during which he also earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from Newcastle University and was elected a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In 2023, Dr. Grossman completed Specialist Training in Oral Surgery in Torbay and, following success in the Membership in Oral Surgery examinations, was admitted to the General Dental Council Specialist List in Oral Surgery. Alongside his specialist training, he provided oral surgery services within primary care settings across South Devon. Now based in Bristol, Dr. Grossman works as an Associate Specialist and Clinical Senior Lecturer in Oral Surgery at both Bristol Dental Hospital and Bristol Dental School. His role includes teaching undergraduate and postgraduate dental professionals while providing treatment under local anaesthesia, intravenous sedation, and general anaesthesia. In recognition of his expertise and contributions to the specialty, he was awarded the Specialty Fellowship in Oral Surgery in 2025, one of the highest professional distinctions within the field.
