Dr Tolga Sönmez graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2016. Following his successful result in the Examination for Specialisation in Dentistry (DUS) in 2017, he began his specialist training at the Department of Periodontology at İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University Faculty of Dentistry.

In 2022, he qualified as a Specialist in Periodontology after completing his thesis entitled “Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin as an Adjunct to Root Surface Planing in the Phase I Treatment of Smokers with Periodontitis.” His research focused on adjunctive approaches to the treatment of periodontal disease.

Since 2018, Dr Sönmez has worked in the fields of periodontal treatment and surgery, implant surgery, All-on-X implant treatments, sinus lift procedures, PRF applications and bone augmentation. He has attended numerous national and international scientific conferences and symposia and has presented several scientific posters. These events include the Turkish Dental Association International Dental Congresses, international symposia on soft tissue management and periodontal regeneration, and the Scientific Congress of the Turkish Society of Periodontology.

In addition to his clinical work, he continues to teach periodontology and periodontal surgery to dentists preparing for the Examination for Specialisation in Dentistry.

In 2023, Dr Sönmez co-founded BT Dent Clinic with Specialist Dentist Bilgesu Mercan Sönmez. At BT Dent Clinic, he provides specialist care in the prevention and treatment of gum diseases, periodontal surgery and implant dentistry. He is a member of the Turkish Dental Association.

Dr Bilgesu Mercan Sönmez graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry in 2017. Following her successful result in the Examination for Specialisation in Dentistry (DUS) in the same year, she began her specialist training at the Department of Periodontology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry.

In 2022, she qualified as a Specialist in Periodontology after completing her thesis entitled “Investigation of Immunological and Biochemical Parameters in Gingival Crevicular Fluid and Whole Saliva in Patients with Peri-implantitis.” Her research focused on the immunological and biochemical aspects of diseases affecting dental implants.

Since 2018, Dr Mercan Sönmez has worked in the fields of periodontal surgery, aesthetic gum treatments, regenerative procedures and implant surgery. She has attended numerous national and international scientific conferences and symposia and has delivered both poster and oral presentations.

These events include the Turkish Dental Association International Dental Congresses, the 3rd International Symposium on Soft Tissue Management Around Teeth and Implants, the International Symposium on Regeneration and Esthetics in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry in Bern, Switzerland, and the Clinical Immunology Congress, where she delivered an oral presentation.

In 2023, Dr Mercan Sönmez co-founded BT Dent Clinic with Specialist Periodontist Dr Tolga Sönmez. At BT Dent Clinic, she provides specialist care in the treatment of gum diseases, periodontal plastic and aesthetic surgery, regenerative periodontal procedures and implant dentistry. She is a member of the Turkish Dental Association.
