A dental bridge is a false tooth which is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth. The natural tooth must be adequately strong to provide good support, while the gap of the lost tooth must not be too wide. It is essential to have a natural tooth in the front and back of the gap for the bridge to be effective. It is also necessary to grind / drill the natural tooth next to the gap so it can support the bridge. If either the tooth, or crown is damaged, then the entire two teeth and the dental bridge must be removed. The dental bridge cannot be used again on a permanent basis.
