What is a Dental Check-up?

A dental check-up, or dental examination, is performed by a hygienist or dentist to check the teeth, gums and mouth of patients. They will check if the patient has cavities or oral cancer and also if they have any other oral disease during the check-up. An extensive examination consisting of fifteen points is performed on the patient’s first visit. Routine examinations are performed after the patient attends the clinic several times.

Is a Dental Check-up painful?

A dental check-up is not painful. The dentist or hygienist detects dental and oral problems during the check-up. The patient who comes for the check-up could be experiencing pain before the check-up.

How long does recovery after a Dental Check-up take?

A dental check-up does not involve any intervention. The dentist or hygienist will only detect the problem and arrange for further treatment to be performed, if necessary.  The need for recovery will arise only after the problem is treated.

How do I care for my teeth after a Dental Check-up?

Patients should follow all the oral hygiene instructions given to them by the hygienist or dentist after the dental check-up. If a dental or oral problem is detected they should attend the clinic for the treatment appointment correctly to prevent the problem from getting worse. They should get a dental check-up done twice a year for long term dental and oral health.

Having this work done was definitely worth the moneyMike, Canada, 24 07 18

I went to this clinic to have my teeth cleaned. Originally I wanted a tooth filled, but it was too far gone to save it. Having this work done was definitely worth the money. I paid about half or a third of the price it would have cost me in Canada. I’m very happy with the service and results. The clinic was fairly good. I’m back in Canada now, but I’ll definitely consider having treatment with Ideal Dental again. It’s difficult to say what the best part of a dentist visit is (I mean, you’re essentially paying someone for pain). However, the staff were great. Everyone was so happy and friendly. The technician who spoke English well, translated for me when I didn’t understand. It’s kind of a community clinic that's a fairly long taxi ride from any of the main centres in Mexico. I thought they were three blocks from the main centre, but they were actually miles away.

Dental Checkup $100 - $150
We will recommend how often to have routine checkups. Many people should see their dentists once or twice a year.we will examine your teeth and gums for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and other health problems. * we will begin to clean your teeth by scraping hard mineral buildup (tartar) off of your teeth with a small metal tool. Then we will floss your teeth, use a polishing compound, and apply fluoride. Cleanings usually aren't painful. * Occasionally we will want to take X-rays. The X-rays take only a few minutes. o we will have you put on a heavy apron to shield your body from X-rays. Everyone else in the room will either wear a protective apron or step behind a protective shield. o we will have you bite down on a small piece of plastic. This will help align the teeth properly for the machine. Your dentist or technician will repeat this process several times to get pictures of all your teeth. * If necessary, we will put a sealant on the chewing surface of your back teeth to help prevent cavities. Sealants keep food and bacteria from getting stuck in the rough chewing surfaces or grooves of your teeth, and they protect your teeth from plaque. * we may apply a fluoride solution directly to your teeth to help prevent tooth decay. Your dentist may recommend a series of fluoride applications.
Dentist Consultation $50 - $75
Dental Crowns $200 - $750
crown (often called a cap) fits over and replaces the entire part of a decayed tooth above the gum line. It encases the tooth and becomes the tooth's new outer surface. You will typically need two or more visits to your dentist to repair a severely decayed tooth with a crown. Crowns may be made of porcelain or a metal base covered with a thin layer of ceramic that matches your teeth and looks like a normal, healthy tooth. Crowns for the teeth in the back of the mouth may be made of gold. During your first visit, your dentist will take out the decay and make an impression of your teeth to create a mold used for making the crown. Your dentist will: * Numb your teeth, gums, tongue, and surrounding skin. Your dentist will first put a substance that feels like jelly directly on the area to start the numbing process, and then inject an anesthetic to complete it. Many dentists will give you sedation to reduce your pain and help you relax. * Sometimes use a small sheet of rubber on a metal frame (rubber dam) to target the decayed tooth and stop liquid and tooth chips from entering the mouth and throat. * Drill out all the decay. * Take an impression of the decayed tooth. The mold will allow a technician to make a crown that perfectly matches the drilled tooth. * Cover the tooth with a temporary crown until your permanent crown is ready.
