A fourth generation dentist, Dr. Ando
noticed that what is lacking in current Japanese dentistry is knowledge in the
area of Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine.
To gain expertise in these areas, he
joined the residency program at the Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine Center at
the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, USA). While working at the
center for 2 years, he treated several hundred Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine
patients. He also became a diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain,
and joined the American Academy of Oral Medicine. With the knowledge and
experience that he gained, he returned to Japan, becoming just one of 6
specialists accredited by the ABOP in Japan (as of July 2015). In order to
concentrate on treating patients suffering from these conditions, he opened his
private clinic in May 2015.
