What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to fitting dental bridges?

Some alternatives to dental bridges are partial dentures or removable dentures.

Rating from 3 Reviews I gave this practice a try ...you should tooAnthony, Ireland, 17 Oct 16

I had a front tooth that required a filling the dentist was great ! I felt he was confident all the way and his confidence mad me relax. He kept checking i was ok throughout the whole procedure .I am glad i choose this clinic.....Anthony..Oh i almost forgot no pain I moved to ballyfermot a few years ago so it ment changing my dentist too. My last dentist was great but it was about finding a local dentist .I asked about and all the dentists in the local area got very good reviews so i simply chose this one.I made a good choice ...Dentists are scarey people to have to go to because you probably wont go there till its needed and having someone put metal into your mouth where the pain resides never appeals to anyone. I was afraid when i went there i am not afraid now . I gave this practice a try ...you should too

Very pleased that my tooth was saved.Thomas, ballyfermot, 23 Dec 13

Rating from 4 Reviews I was very pleased with how efficient the dentist wasSue, South Africa, 15 Sep 17

My Braces appointment at the Docklands Dental did not go as expected as I was referred to someone else but I was very pleased with how efficient the dentist was. The clinic gave me a good referral for my appointment rather attempting to do something untested so I appreciate that.
