recementing a cap that had come off
One of my porcelain caps came unglued while I using dental floss. I kept thinking how lucky I was that everything was intact and that there was no damage to any other tooth nor to the cap itself. I was optimistic that it was going to be easy to recement the cap, that the process wasn't going to take very long, and that the final bill would not come to very much.
With the cap in hand, I took it to the Drs. Costello & Associates Dentistry, 19th/F, Coda Plaza, 51 Garden Road, Central, Hong Kong to have it "recemented". The name of the dentist I saw was Vincent C. Goh. As I had imagined, the process was very straight forward.
I continued to feel good during the entire process until being handed a bill of US$588.00 (HK$4550.00). I was in absolute shock. Almost US$600 for basically a few minutes work gluing a cap back on!!! As I have recounted this story to all my friends and beyond (as well as to my friends in the American Women's Association), there is not one person who considers this to be a reasonable charge.
To put it as nicely as possible, if this group of dentists were the last on earth, even then I would never go back. By anyone's standard, including Hong Kong standards, this was a shameful rip-off. I cannot in any way recommend this group to anyone.
Total Amount Paid HK$4594
