What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is performed for dental procedures for anxious patients by administering medications to help them relax. Many patients avoid getting the required dental help because of their fear of the dentist. Sedation dentistry is performed to ensure that nervous patients enjoy healthy mouths and teeth.

What are the types of dental sedation?

The different types of dental sedation are; inhalation sedation, for patients requiring mild sedation also called anxiolysis; oral sedation, by asking patients to swallow a pill; TENS, using electrical impulses to numb the area; topical anaesthesia, using a swab to numb the area; or intra-venous sedation, for patients requiring moderate sedation and general anaesthesia for patients requiring deep sedation. General anaesthesia is used for patients only in a hospital and not in a dentist chair.

Is Sedation Dentistry painful?

Oral sedation, inhalation sedation, TENS and topical sedation are not painful. Intra-venous sedation and general anaesthesia need to be injected and patients may feel pain when the sedative is injected.

When can I travel by air after Sedation Dentistry?

Patients should travel by air two days after sedation dentistry. They should take the advice of their dentist before embarking on their journey.

How long does recovery after Sedation Dentistry take?

Recovery from dental sedation takes between 40 to 90 minutes. Recovery depends on the type of sedation administered.

What after care is required after Sedation Dentistry?

Patients should rest for at least three hours after sedation dentistry. They should not eat for at least four hours, until the anaesthesia wears off. They should take all prescribed medications correctly. They should resume work at least one day after sedation dentistry. They should not smoke or drink alcohol for at least two days after sedation dentistry. They should follow all dietary prescriptions given by their dentist correctly.

The surgery exceeded my expectations, it was a masterpiece with a much shorter time than I expectedG_Stelmaszek, US, 19 04 18

Treatment received: 2 extractions, 3 implants, cleaning and teeth whitening. Dr. Jepssy Belter clinic has the most users - 1,335 and highest number of verified reviews - 43 of all available places in Santo Domingo. I was looking for highly skilled implant surgical specialist who is performing thousands of procedures systematically. The other clinics scores are not even close to Dr. Belter results so the choice was easy. I was impressed with quick responses to my email with details answers to all my questions. Arranged transportation from the airport by Omar- a great driver who even informed me about the best place to exchange dollars, since the airport doesn't give you the best exchange rate. The surgery exceeded my expectations, it was a masterpiece with a much shorter time than I expected and painless, thank you Dr. Belter. Gabriela -Dr. Belter assistant - very dedicated to her tasks did a great job with cleaning and whitening. Nina - the secretary with great personality took care of the finances. Looking forward to go back and get my crowns.

The entire experience was VIPC., US, 18 10 22

Doctor Alonso is absolutely amazing. Not only is he an expert in his field, he's a really nice and caring person. All the years of dental anxiety disappeared as soon as I met him. He caters to the needs of his patients on an individual basis. Unlike American dentists, Doctor Alonso does not try to sell the patient on unnecessary treatments and procedures just to add to the price. He provides an honest and realistic quote based on the needs of the patient, he actually listens to any concerns and there are no surprise fees involved. The entire experience was VIP. Even with travel costs, I saved THOUSANDS of dollars. I will return to Doctor Alonso for all my future dental care. If you're on the fence about dental tourism, or have had bad experiences with overpriced, arrogant dentists, all I can say is Doctor Alonso will change the way you feel about dental care.

This dentist's clinic is really a comprehensive five-star treatment place. Both his assistant and the attending doctor are very professional and the effect is very good. The quality of his teeth is the best I have done in these years. He is a perfect doctor and a very caring Christian. And its price is only a quarter of our local price. The quality of the teeth can be guaranteed for 20 years I made three implants, a total of six crowns, and two root treatments. Plus the deep cleaning and 6 temporary Crown twice and Mo detail service Only paid 6000 dollars.

A root canal treatment means that the dentist removes the cause to the pain, for example caries, if possible. There after the pulp is removed the canals cleaned and filled with again. The most common filling material is "Gutta-percha", a material similar to rubber that is cemented inside the canal. Finally a fillings or crown is made to replace the lost part of the tooth. The treatment is executed with usual anaesthetic and should be pain free. If the pulp is dead normally no anaesthetic is needed.
