Dental Bridges

A bridge, also called a “fixed bridge” is a dental restoration that replaces one

or more missing teeth. It extends across an area that has no teeth and is

typically made up of an artificial tooth fused between 2 crowns. (A crown is a

hollow, artificial tooth that fits over a natural tooth or a dental implant). The

bridge is held firmly in place by your own teeth on each side of the missing

one(s) or by dental implants. A bridge is permanent and cannot be removed.

Dental Crowns

If your tooth is damaged but not lost, a crown can be used to restore its shape,

appearance and function. You may need a crown if you have a root canal,

a large filling in a tooth or a broken tooth.

A crown, also called a cap, is a hollow, artificial

tooth used to cover a damaged or decayed tooth.

The crown restores the tooth and protects it from

further damage. Crowns can also be used to

cover a discolored or misshapen tooth. A tooth

that has been fixed with a crown looks and

works very much like a natural tooth.

Crowns are designed to look and feel like real

teeth. As with your original smile, care must be

taken to avoid tooth fracture and with good oral

hygiene, your crown will last longer.

It is recommended that you:

decay-causing germs

We offer variety types of dental crowns, metal free, precious metal, PFM, or

Zirconium crowns.  Please discuss with our dentist to find the perfect one for

your situation.

Dentures

Dentures are artificial replacements for your natural teeth and gums. There

are 2 types of dentures: partial and complete. For both types of dentures

your dentist in Brampton Kennedy Square Dental makes a model of your

teeth by taking impressions. The models are used to custom-make your

dentures.

Extractions

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to come in and the ones least needed for good

oral health. The third molars or wisdom teeth, are called such because they

develop when most individuals become adults (which are near 17 years of age).

Because our jaws are smaller

than our ancestors, our wisdom

teeth may not have enough

room to fit in our mouths

properly. Therefore, problems

may result if these additional

teeth attempt to emerge.

Most people have four wisdom teeth, one in each corner of the mouth and

often they are impacted (trapped in the jawbone and gums). Cramped for

room, these impacted teeth grow in many different directions and removal

may be recommended by your dentist to prevent potential problems.

Whether wisdom teeth cause your mouth harm depends on several factors,

including the size of your jaw and how your wisdom teeth grow in. You may

have no symptoms at all, but the other teeth in your mouth could be at risk

for damage.

It is best to have wisdom teeth removed around 17 years of age because

that is when they usually develop. Removal will be easier as the bone may

Fillings

If your teeth are filled with dark metal

amalgam fillings, your smile is aging

your appearance. Your discolored

teeth may also cause embarrassment.

Of the most concern to your dentist in

Brampton Kennedy Square Dental,

however, is the fact that metal fillings

can also damage teeth. Amalgams

expand with heat and contract with cold. This movement weakens the tooth wall,

leading to fractures and allowing bacteria to enter and cause decay. Amalgam

fillings contain mercury that may have negative long-term health effects.

Tooth-colored composite fillings are a safer, stronger, more attractive and more

enduring alternative to metal. They conservatively restore your teeth to strength

and your smile to beauty.

Our dentists at Brampton Kennedy Square Dental ensures the continued health

of their clients by using only non-metal restorative fillings.

To fill a cavity, your dentist may first give you "freezing" (or local anesthetic),

so you do not feel any pain. Your dentist then takes out all traces of decay,

shapes the hole and fills it.

Hygienist Session

Preventive dentistry is the modern way of reducing the amount of dental treatment

necessary to maintain a healthy mouth. Regular hygiene visits at Brampton

Kennedy Square Dental help maintain healthy teeth and gums.

Daily brushing and flossing is critical to maintaining healthy teeth and gums,

but it doesn’t take care of everything! It’s very important to come into Brampton

Kennedy Square Dental for regular hygiene visits. These appointments provide

your teeth and gums with a thorough cleaning, inspection, and preventative

maintenance.

During these appointments, we will "scale" your teeth -- removing tartar build-up

-- and polish the surface -- removing minor stains. You may also receive a fluoride

treatment to help fight decay.

But these visits are more than simply a professional cleaning -- they are a key part

of preventative maintenance. The visits provide an opportunity for us to tell you if

you are brushing and flossing correctly, and examine your teeth and gums for

Invisalign™

Invisalign® is a method of straightening teeth using a series of clear, almost

invisible, removable Aligners. Invisalign® combines the doctor’s clinical treatment

plan with proprietary 3-D, computer-generated software to make these sets of

unique, custom-made Aligners that move teeth in very precise increments.

During your initial visit, our dentist can determine if you are an appropriate

candidate for treatment with Invisalign®. The most obvious advantage of the

treatment is cosmetic: Invisalign® specially developed aligners are virtually

invisible so no one will even notice that youre improving your smile but you!

The process is effortless! Invisalign is truly the best way to transform your smile

without interference to your daily lifestyle. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign

patients are free to eat and brush without the hassle of metal brackets and wires.

Simply remove the aligners when eating or brushing.

Root Canal Treatment

When the nerve of your tooth becomes infected, a successful root canal treatment

lets you keep the tooth rather than having to pull it out. Keeping your tooth helps to

prevent your other teeth from drifting out of line and causing jaw problems. Saving

a natural tooth avoids having to replace it with an artificial tooth.

Teeth Whitening

Many of us feel that our smiles are most striking when our teeth look especially white, but unfortunately, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and tobacco can leave behind ugly stains. To help you restore your gleaming, bright white smile and to give you an added boost of confidence, we offer many options, such as custom whitening kits.
