Dr Axel Ecke

Job Title:
  Dentist
Biography:
B.D.S. (Otago) Practice Principal axel In 1981 Axels family left Germany for what was supposed to be a 4 year stint in New Zealand. After commencing tertiary studies his parents returned to Germany, where he and his sister decided to stay and live in New Zealand. Axel graduated from Otago University in 1990 and worked in Wellington New Zealand until 1993, when he and his wife Stacey decided to move to Melbourne. After a brief stint working in Dimboola as a locum, Axel started work at Union Health on Swanston St, which he expanded to his current practice at QV Dental, where Axel is practicing dentistry full time now. He is the proud father of 4 children: Marlee, Quade, Maddox and Lacey. Apart from spending most of his time with his kids, Axel is active in the community coaching soccer to U12 at FC Birrarung, helps out with the kids swimming club and sometimes gets to sail his very old Hobie 16 in Torquay, which just doesn't happen very often. He enjoys painting, occasionally hanging his works at the practice, enjoying the reaction his works receive. Axel had he not found his passion for dentistry, he thinks he would have become a leading chef with a passion for preparing and sharing food. He regularly meets with friends and colleagues to photograph Melbourne and its people. Axel's professional passion lies in delivering highest quality care in an ultramodern environment yet with warmth and compassion, as Practice Principal he emphasizes a happy team environment and the importance of communication excellence with patients.

Dr Mary Phan

Job Title:
  Dentist
Biography:
Graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2005, Dr Mary Phan went on to work and manage a busy private dental clinic for 7 years before joining our team last year. She truly enjoys coming to work everyday and loves to engage with our team of exceptional nurses to provide a fun and light environment which makes patients feel relaxed and comfortable while receiving highest level of care. She believes in involving her patients in their treatment decisions so they can guide her in what approach they want for their dental care. Dr Mary Phan enjoys all facets of dentistry with special interests in preventative care, aesthetic fillings, crowns and bridges, TMD, paediatric care and wisdom teeth extractions. Dr Mary Phan is trained and certified by Allergan to provide therapy to assist in Tempero-mandibular Joing Disorders (TMD), allowing patients who chronically grind their teeth an option to no longer rely on wearing their nightguard (splint). Seeing the benefit and demand for rapid treatment to correct minor crowding or relapse following previous orthodontic treatment, Dr Mary Phan has become one of a few dentists in Australia who is trained and certified to provide patient treatment with the Inman Aligner system (treatment ranges from 4-6 months). She is also currently undertaking continuing education in Progressive Orthodontic Program run by revered Dr Don McGann. Away from dentistry she enjoys cooking, discovering different culinary delights, reading and going for long walks.
