Breast Augmentation
Many women are dissatisfied with the shape or size of their breasts due to factors such as heredity, extreme weight loss, trauma, pregnancy, and age. Dr. Taranow performs breast augmentation, or “augmentation mammaplasty,” to increase the size or enhance the shape of female breasts with the use of silicone or saline implants. This procedure can also be used to correct breast asymmetry, breast deformities, or mastectomy results when these issues require the breast size to increase.

Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia surgery, also known as “male breast reduction,” corrects overdeveloped breasts in men. Hormonal changes, heredity, disease, or use of certain drugs can cause excess breast tissue or fat to be present in males. It is estimated that 40 to 60 percent of men have this condition. Dr. Douglas Taranow is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and routinely performs gynecomastia surgery in order to provide men with a more masculine chest contour.

Tummy Tuck
Tummy tuck surgery, also known as “abdominoplasty,” creates a more attractive abdominal profile by tightening weakened abdominal muscles and removing excess fat and skin. Factors such as weight fluctuations, pregnancy, heredity, prior surgery, and age can contribute to a bulging or sagging abdominal section. Board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Douglas Taranow routinely performs the tummy tuck procedure at his New York City practice.

Facial Fillers
Dermal fillers are substances injected just below the surface of your skin to replenish the supporting elements and it can fill in lines, reduce or eliminate wrinkles, replace soft-tissue volume loss, reduce hollows under your eyes, enhance lips, and raise scar depressions from the inside out restoring a more youthful appearance. At Shine Cosmetic Surgery, located in Los Angeles, California, patient safety and comfort is of utmost importance to Dr. Daniel H. Lin M.D. He is committed to staying current on all medical technology that is why he thoroughly researches and investigates new fillers until he is confident that they are appropriate to use on his patients. He understands that some people are not ready for cosmetic surgery and that is why he offers non-surgical procedures including dermal fillers.

Regardless of how committed you are when taking care of your face, premature wrinkles are an inevitable part of life. There are three types of wrinkles: dynamic, static, and wrinkle folds. Dynamic wrinkles are caused by the contraction of muscles that are attached to your overlying skin. Every time your muscle contracts, your skin bunches together forming lines between your muscles. The most common dynamic wrinkles form across your forehead, on your cheeks, near the outer corner of your eyes (crow’s feet), and between your eyebrows. Static wrinkles are a result of genetics, poor diet, environmental factors, smoking, sun damage, prolonged dynamic wrinkling, and lack of elasticity. Static wrinkles continue to be visible even after muscle contraction has stopped and that is why they are called “static.” The third type of wrinkle is called a wrinkle fold. The cause of this wrinkle is due to sagging of the underlying facial structures and the most common wrinkle folds are the deep grooves between the nose and mouth known as the naso-labial groove.
