He is a Board Certified General & Vascular Surgeon, Surgical Critical Care Director, ICAVL Accredited Vascular Laboratory for diagnosis of Arterial and Venous Diseases. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio. His undergraduate studies were completed at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina in 1976. He received his medical degree from the University of South Florida in 1979. His internship and residency in general surgery were served at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Collins completed a post-graduate fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1984. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Pinellas County Medical Society and the Society for Vascular Surgery. His special interests include peripheral vascular disease, surgical critical care and laparoscopic surgery.He is the former Chief of Staff at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.

Board Certified General Surgeon Specializing in Minimally Invasive (Laparoscopic) Surgery. He was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. His undergraduate studies were completed at Florida State University in 1995. He received his Master’s of Public Health at the University of South Florida College of Public Health in 1997 in Infectious disease and Immunology. He received his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 2001, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and received the prestigious membership to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. His internship and residency in general surgery were served at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and completed in 2006. In addition, Dr. Huguet completed a post-graduate fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in 2007. His fellowship training included advanced laparoscopic surgery techniques such as bariatric surgery. He has presented at multiple national and international meetings and published multiple articles in prestigious journals and book chapters (see attached CV link). For all of his academic work and commitment to medicine, he has been recognized as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, Southeastern Surgical Congress and the Pinellas County Medical Association. He currently serves as Chief of Surgery at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. Dr. Huguet’s special interests include laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, laparoscopic treatment of gastric and esophageal disorders, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, laparoscopic hernia surgery, laparoscopic solid organ surgery and pancreatic, adrenal and splenic disorders.

Board Certified General Surgeon. Specializing in a Broad Range of General and Vascular Surgical Procedures. He was educated in the public schools of Norfolk, Virginia and was admitted to the University of Virginia, where he majored in French. By attending summer session, he was also able to complete the science requirements for Medical School in three years. He was one of only two students admitted to the School of Medicine that year without an undergraduate degree. After graduating from Medical School, he began a Surgery Residency at the University of Florida. After one year, he entered the US Air Force and was assigned to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Service at an Air Force Hospital, where he practiced that specialty until returning to the University of Florida to complete his Surgery training. He was also an attending surgeon at Shands Teaching Hospital until his transfer to the US Air Force Hospital at Andrews Air Force Base, Washington, DC. While there he obtained additional experience and training in Thoracic and Vascular surgery. He was a rated Flight Surgeon and rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel. He currently has a broad based General Surgery practice, with special interest and experience in complex and recurrent hernias, gastrointestinal and biliary surgery, laparoscopy, breast surgery, carotid artery surgery and thyroid/parathyroid surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and has been an associate examiner for that Board. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, for which he served for ten years as Chairman of the Committee on Applicants for his state district. He is the author of numerous scientific papers on a wide array of surgical topics. He also wrote the chapter on incisional hernia in a recently published textbook of surgery. Dr. Clarke is a member of numerous general and vascular surgical societies.
