Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is a procedure that has been around for centuries. It continues to be one of the most popular procedures we do at Shumway Cosmetic Surgery.

If the eyes are the first place people begin to show their age, then the neck is arguably the second. Vertical banding, horizontal creases, fatty jowls, the dreaded “turkey-wattle,” and a crepe-y quality to the skin can all work together to make an individual look older. Neck lift surgery (the medical term is platysmaplasty, named for the plastysma muscles that run along the front of the neck) tightens the skin and the underlying muscles to lift the neck as well as improve and sharpen the contour of the jawline. The surgery is often performed in conjunction with a facelift, but may also be done as a stand-alone procedure. 

The term rhinoplasty means, “nose molding” or “nose forming.” Also known in more colloquial terms as a “nose job” it refers to a plastic surgery procedure in which the structure of the nose is changed. The change can be made by adding or removing bone or cartilage; grafting tissues form another part of the body, or implanting synthetic material to alter the shape of the nose.Rhinoplasty is the second most common cosmetic procedure among both men and women, but it also one of the trickiest in terms of surgical technique — and it demands the skill and artistry of a trained expert like Dr. Moradzadeh. When rhinoplasty is performed to improve breathing that has been impaired due to the formation of the nose or to an injury, it’s known as functional rhinoplasty. When the surgery is performed to improve the nose’s appearance, it’s referred to as cosmetic rhinoplasty. Through cosmetic rhinoplasty, the nose can be made larger or smaller; the angle of the nose can be changed in relation to the upper lip; the tip of the nose can be altered; or other imperfections like bumps, indentations and other defects can be corrected.

His procedure, rhinoplasty, has its modern roots in Europe at the beginning of the last century. It was one of the first cosmetic procedures done in the history of medicine. Until that time, few people would dare undergo a surgical procedure unless it was to alleviate substantial pain or preserve life.

Breast enlargement, or augmentation mammoplasty, enhances the body contour of a woman who is unhappy with her breast size. It may also be used to correct volume loss after pregnancy, or to help balance breast size asymmetries, as well as a reconstructive technique following other breast surgery. An implant (prosthesis) may be placed through an incision, under the breast tissue or under the muscle or through an incision in the bellybutton region. The incision can be made under the breast, around the nipple, in the armpit, or in the bellybutton. There are two main types of breast implants to choose from. One is the saline implant which is composed of an outer silicone shell that the surgeon fills with saline (salt water) at the time of the surgery. The second type of implant is the more popular silicone or gel implant that are pre-filled silicone gel implants that feel and look more natural in most patients. The placement technique (under the fascia, or muscle or over the muscle), and the size of the implants are determined at the time of consultation to coincide with your desired look and in proportion to your build and body type.
