Initially, I was searching for good circumcision clinics for adults in/around the Midlands region, as I live in Leicester, however, was unable to find a suitable doctor to carry out the procedure. I do not suffer from any medical condition to necessitate the procedure, however, as a Muslim, I felt it was important to do. Seeing as I am fit and well (I am 25), it was probably best to get it over and done with. I emailed the clinic who responded really quickly with relevant info, dates, and times. After a bit of email ping-pong, we arranged a suitable date. The clinic is open both evenings and weekends, which is also one reason why I chose IMC. I travelled down to the clinic and parked nearby (free on street parking, a rarity in London!). It was really accessible, and for those travelling, it's really not difficult to identify the clinic. I was seen to quickly, and received a very thorough consultation with the doctor. The clinic offers free consultations (I think) for those who are reluctant and are thinking about the procedure. Most visitors, I'm sure, are parents having their babies snipped, but there are also numerous adults too. My consultation touched all the important bases, including the indications and contraindications of the procedure. The clinic offers the traditional surgical method, and also the shang-ring method. I had already thoroughly researched both methods online prior to the appointment, and as a busy professional, needing to be back at work on Monday morning (my appointment was on a Saturday night), I chose the ring method. After the consultation, we got down to business, and I laid down on the table. They used copious spray-anesthetic prior to injection, 2% lidocaine. After this had started to work, they injected the lidocaine solution. These injections were the only pain I felt, and this was extremely minimal due to the use of the spray. Because I had mentioned to the doctor that I was immediately travelling back to Leicester, he used a higher than usual amount of lidocaine to ensure I got home pain-free. He was spot-on, and I was absolutely numb in the area till I was at home and settled. After the procedure, I was bandaged up, given advice, and some antiseptic soothing cream to apply. I was also given the doctor's telephone number to call in an emergency, but this wasn't needed. I then booked an appointment for a week later to return for some aftercare and removal of the device. I have to mention that during the procedure, the doctor was professional and kind and made small-talk to pass the time, which is a very important skill for doctors to have! Having had the procedure done on a Saturday night, I was fine over the weekend and perfectly well enough to go into work on Monday morning. Over the course of the week, I experienced some discomfort, but certainly no pain. This is except night time erections, which are inevitable in all normal healthy men. If you have been circumcised, my advice is to tense your arms as much as possible when this happens. For me, it diverted the blood flow elsewhere and worked! I went back a week later where I was told everything was healing well and had the device removed. Whilst the spray was used again, this was slightly painful for a few seconds. However, it was no more than five on a scale of one to ten. My dealings with IMC were professional and frank. I highly recommend them! On a side note, if you are considering circumcision for you/your son, I also highly recommend it. There are a multitude of anti-circumcision websites on the internet. They are all extremely dubious and bigoted. Having been circumcised as an adult, I can personally attest to the fact that it is cleaner, aesthetically better, and also improves function and pleasure. Disregard the nonsense and lies you read on the internet. Circumcision has been done for millenia, and for good reason. All being told; thank you, IMC!
