Mr Richard Young

Job Title:

Richard Young studied medicine at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. After qualifying he returned to teach at Cambridge University and tutor at Downing College before starting his general surgical training at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol. Mr Young passed the Fellowship exam of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 1997 and subsequently started his Plastic Surgery training in 1998. This was initially in Bristol before being appointed to a surgical research fellowship at the Blond McIndoe Laboratories where he undertook novel research in nerve repair following injury. Mr Young went on to complete specialist training and higher surgical training in Hong Kong, London and Belgium working in some of the world’s most renowned hospital such as Great Ormond Street, The Royal Marsden and The University Hospital, Gent. He was awarded the specialist fellowship in Plastic Surgery, FRCS (Plast), in 2007 and gained his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2008 with entry on to the GMS Specialist Plastic Surgery register. The same year he was appointed as a Consultant in the Craniofacial Plastic Surgery Department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London where his NHS practice is still based. Mr Young undertakes craniofacial, facial, body cosmetic rejuvenation utilising non-surgical and surgical techniques in addition to adult and paediatric general plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has a special interest in facial reconstruction from birth defects, skin cancer and trauma. In addition to this he cares for patients with facial palsy. He is a core member of the Skin Cancer Team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and works closely with consultant colleagues in oculoplastic surgery, ENT, maxillofacial and neurosurgery. He is a full member of The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.The Private Practice at 150 Harley Street has a well established dedicated team with a long tradition of providing excellent patient care. Mr Norman Waterhouse

Job Title:

Norman Waterhouse graduated from Birmingham University in 1978. His early surgical training took place in Cambridge and Bristol and in 1982 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow. His higher surgical training in Plastic Surgery was carried out in Bristol and London as well as periods spent at specialist centres in Bordeaux, Tokyo and Adelaide. In 1988 he gained the Specialist Fellowship in Plastic Surgery (FRCS(Plas)).

He was appointed as a Consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal London Hospital in 1989. He was subsequently appointed as Lead Clinician and Director of the Craniofacial Unit at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, treating all forms of facial conditions. His interest in facial surgery constituted the majority of his NHS practice. In 2005 he resigned from the NHS and is now in full time private practice, where he undertakes all forms of cosmetic surgery in addition to reconstructive and facial surgery. He has published over fifty papers in the medical literature, and has an active research and teaching profile. He has supervised undergraduate degree courses in conjunction with Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine. He is frequently an invited speaker and member of expert panels on international courses and conferences on facial aesthetic surgery. He has served as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the British Journal of Plastic Surgery.

In 2003 he co-founded the charity Facing the World treating children from developing countries with a wide variety of congenital facial conditions. He has travelled to Sri Lanka, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Ethiopia treating children with cleft lip and palate and other major facial conditions.
He is a full member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, The European Craniofacial Society, the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
He is a former President of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and a former President of the Royal Society of Medicine. He is included in the Specialist Register established by the General Medical Council in 1995.

Dr Duncan Atherton

He qualified with a double distinction from St George’s medical school in 2000. He has also undertaken sub specialty fellowships in craniofacial surgery; cleft surgery and the prestigious Wellington Aesthetic fellowship. He was awarded the FRCS (Plast) in 2011
