I recently had an online consultation with Dr Roberto Herrero and his international patient coordinator, Aida, regarding Facial Feminisation Surgery, and I came away with a genuinely positive impression of both of them.

From the beginning, they were welcoming, friendly, and fully engaged throughout the consultation. They gave me plenty of time to explain my goals, concerns, and expectations, and every question I asked was answered in detail with clear explanations and medical reasoning.

What impressed me the most was that neither Dr Herrero nor Aida tried to sell me additional procedures. In fact, Dr. Herrero advised against several procedures that had been recommended by other surgeons because, in his opinion, they would provide limited benefit while exposing me to unnecessary risks and potential long-term complications. He carefully explained the reasoning behind each recommendation, discussing healing timelines, possible complications, and even issues that can arise years after surgery and may require complex revision procedures.
Another aspect that really stood out was Dr Herrero's strong focus on patient safety. Every recommendation seemed to be made with my long-term well-being in mind rather than simply trying to achieve the biggest possible transformation or perform as many procedures as possible. That thoughtful, conservative approach gave me a great deal of confidence.

Aida was equally wonderful throughout the process. She was kind, patient, transparent, and never made me feel pressured to make a decision. Instead, she encouraged me to take as much time as I needed, reassured me that I was welcome to ask further questions at any stage, and made me feel genuinely supported.
I left the consultation feeling heard, respected, well informed, and, most importantly, safe.

For full transparency, my experience so far is limited to the consultation stage, so I cannot yet comment on the surgery itself or the postoperative care. However, based on my experience so far, I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Herrero and Aida to anyone looking for an honest, patient-centred, and safety-focused consultation. I am genuinely looking forward to continuing the process with them.

I came to Spain with my son for gender affirming care that is increasingly hard to access in the UK. Facing an ever-hostile environment for trans people, we were welcomed to Spain by Dr Herrero with compassion, genuine care and an incredibly passionate and professional outlook. We both felt very cared for, seen and looked after. Dr Herrero explained everything at each point; my son was comfortable and happy in his care. The actual surgery was incredibly well done, the results are brilliant, and my son now feels at home in his body.

Dr Herrero kept in close touch with me and reassured me immediately after the surgery, which was so appreciated. I would highly recommend Dr Herrero; he takes a real interest in each person and his work is just brilliant. We thank you so much.

I had a consultation with Dr. Herrero about a number of FFS procedures, and though in the end I decided against surgery, Dr. Herrero was extremely kind and helpful. His advice was specific and detailed, and it was clear he wasn't trying to up-sell me on any procedure. In the end, this consultation was extremely useful to me in making an informed choice about the role of surgery in achieving my goals.

For transparency, I received this consultation free of charge in return for providing a review.

Dr Herrero was warm, kind, and positive throughout the consultation. He answered my questions clearly and came across as supportive and understanding towards trans patients, which made it easier to discuss concerns openly. The language barrier was also helped by Aida translating where needed.

My main feedback would be that the consultation was conducted via a handheld mobile phone, which at times made it slightly difficult to focus and understand clearly due to movement and audio quality.

Overall, I appreciated Dr Herrero’s openness and willingness to answer questions.

The clinic was super kind and helpful, giving me all the relevant documents, and I was able to ask questions to my surgeon at any time!

I had a double mastectomy (Top Surgery) for a good price, got all the clinic and surgery visits covered, along with the medication and post-surgery tools for recovery, even an extra hospital night!

I chose this clinic because the people were most concerned with you feeling your best self and encouraged support and friends, also they met my timeline that I wanted to complete the surgery in, They also had over 25 years of experience helping my community!
Also, I really appreciated Dr Herrero, and how, once I was allowed to leave the hospital walked with me to my hotel room; it was very kind.

Aida in Safe Rebirth has been very helpful in setting up the video consultation with Dr. Roberto Herrero. I got the information I asked for but I may need more information. I feel confident getting the information from Aida in Safe Rebirth. They make me feel comfortable with getting the procedure and helping with the aftercare.

I recently had a consultation with Dr Herrero and Aida to discuss my options for a vaginoplasty. My mum and I were present and both felt instantly at ease; we felt comfortable asking lots of questions and weren't rushed at all.

I'd finally like to say that Aida from Safe Rebirth is the most caring, compassionate person and so, so helpful. She responds quickly to any of our queries and has been such a positive part of this journey.

I’ve had consultations with Dr. Herrero for a combined vulvoplasty with chondrolaryngoplasty. This is not a very usual combination of procedures, but he was able to be flexible to accommodate my needs in this regard. Speaking to him, I really found that he is a friendly and compassionate surgeon, with a lot of expertise in the procedures that I was looking at. He was able to answer all the questions that I had and some I hadn’t even thought of asking myself, which was extremely reassuring. I’ve had two consultations in total; during the first we discussed the broader points, such as results, recovery etc., including pictures of results from previous patients. The second consultation involved more discussion of specifics, and I was allowed to bring my parents to the call to help them understand the procedures and ask any questions they might have had to give them peace of mind that I was going to be looked after properly. Overall, the experience has been really good, and I definitely feel reassured, listened to and understood.

I arranged my FFS in Spain with Dr Herrero and it was really a great experience - in fact, I'm not sure it could have been better. Dr Herrero and his colleague Dr Jariod Ferrer, were a really professional team and everything from the pre-surgery consultations to the after-care has been faultless.
