History

Established in 1985

Peters first home was a small terraced cottage in Batheaston and after the birth of his first child it was clear that the family needed more space so they moved to Bradford on Avon, and he decided to convert the house into his first practice. It was on a main bus route, had a free car park opposite and was on the high street in the village so very easy to find.

A map was put up and a pin placed where each patient lived. It was clear that a lot of the patients were coming from Wiltshire. He then visited Devizes on a sunny market day and thought it the perfect location for his 2nd clinic. Devizes clinic opened in 1987.

The Bradford on Avon clinic finally became a reality when developers were successful, after five attempts over 17 years, at gaining planning permission following the closure of the Avon Rubber plant beside the river. Peter had always dreamt of a clinic on that site, and that dream was realised when the redevelopment was completed and the clinic opened in June 2011.

After graduating from The Anglo European College of Chiropractic in 1984 Peter Dixon established the Batheaston Chiropractic Clinic in 1985, the Devizes Chiropractic Clinic in 1987 and the Bradford on Avon Chiropractic Clinic in 2011, and he practices in all three clinics.
He has been heavily involved in the politics and development of the Chiropractic profession in the UK. As a member of the steering group responsible for the Chiropractor’s Act passed by Parliament in 1994. He is a past President of The British Chiropractic Association, The European Chiropractors’ Union and past Chairman of The General Chiropractic Council. Dr Elizabeth James

Specialisations:
  Chiropractic
Languages:
  English
Biography:

Elizabeth grew up in a small village just outside of Bath and graduated from the Royal High School in 2007. From a young age she knew that a career in healthcare would be her vocation but was not keen for a career in medicine. After accompanying a family member to a Chiropractic appointment she knew that she had found what she was looking for. Elizabeth shadowed Peter in 2006 as well as several other Chiropractors and Physiotherapists and decided that Chiropractic was the career for her. She enrolled at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (WIoC) in 2007 and has not looked back.

Elizabeth graduated from WIoC with a Merit in the Master of Chiropractic degree. She thoroughly enjoyed her studies finding the Clinic Year most rewarding. On completing her studies, she returned to her home town of Bath and joined the team at Dixon Health.

Elizabeth practices a range of techniques including Diversified and Activator and has a special interest in the way that working postures can contribute to pain. She is looking to further her knowledge in dry needling (a form of acupuncture) and in the care for pregnant women and young children.

She is currently a full member of the British Chiropractic Association, College of Chiropractors and is registered with the General Chiropractic Council.
