About Gorey Family Chiropractic Clinic

The Gorey Family Chiropractic Clinic has been established as a center of chiropractic excellence since 2005. Until now it has been difficult for a patient with back pain and associated neurological disorders in the region to have all their diagnostic and treatment needs taken care of in one place. We are based in a newly refurbished building  with onsite x ray facilities and computerised gait scanning facilities for the benefit and convenience of our patients.

Our three principle chiropractors graduated with honours from University of Glamorgan, Wales and have a great amount of clinical experience and post graduate training behind them. They have completed further training in the USA, U.K and Europe and been awarded certificates in Medical Acupuncture as well as the  Management of sports and extremity injury.

At Gorey Family Chiropractic Clinic we aim to treat patients in a comfortable and caring environment. We try to keep our treatment costs affordable whilst not compromising on the quality of services we offer. We are proud to have been shortlisted in 2012 in the Wexford Chamber of Commerce Business Awards in the "Best Service Provider" category.

We are committed to  continuing professional education to ensure our skills are the finest available.  We aim to provide the best possible treatment, designed with our patients' well-being  in mind to achieve the best results in the short term but also in the longer term.

Excellent staff excellent treatment

Excellent staff excellent treatment. Had lower back and leg pain and only walk short distances but now after treatment can walk anywhere without pain. Would highly recommend Gorey Family Chiropractic Clinic.

There has to be something right with the Gorey Family Chiropractic Clinic if I've been a patient there for fourteen years!

Dr Michael and Dr Olivia are friendly and professional and you know you're in safe hands with them. I have had back, hip, shoulder, hands and jaw problems over the years and their help has been an enormous contribution to my muscle and bone problems being abated.

I can once again enjoy outings and walking. The Receptionists are very helpful and in their professional manner, try to accommodate each person with a time that suits you.

Michael had been recommended to me by my brother. I went to Michael with what I thought was a knee injury. Immediately he noticed that it was actually my back causing the problem, before I even had the x-ray. Michael scheduled a full treatment plan and exercises for home. Within 2 weeks I noticed a huge difference. I'm now attending Micheals clinic for maintenance. Every 3 months is recommended but no pressure. Entirely up to the patient. I would strongly recommend visiting this clinic with any pain-related issues. 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I first visited Gorey Family Chiropractic Clinic in August 2013 with severe pain and discomfort in my back and hip following a fall. The staff here were so helpful and friendly and put me at ease straight away. Dr. Olivia carried out an assessment which included an x-ray. I had a second consultation a week later and the treatment plan was explained to me and for the first time my injury was explained to me! Because my condition was ongoing for a period of time I needed a number of appointments to correct the problem. I am now pain free and able to resume all the sport activities that before were impossible. Dr. Olivia was amazing and the treatment was easy and pain free! I can honestly say it has changed my life. I would highly recommend this Clinic.

Back Pain Treatment

We provide a wide range of specialised treatment, diagnosis and management services for sufferers of back pain and related conditions, including on site x-ray.

Once the cause of the problem has been determined and diagnosed by undergoing a very thorough consultation and examination with one of the clinics experienced chiropractors, then the most successful form of treatment can be recommended for the problem and all relevant information can  be explained thoroughly.

Should the presenting problem be unsuitable for physical treatment we then undertake to make a referral to the most appropriate specialist for the condition.

Chiropractor Consultation

New patients to the  practice initially undergo a 45 minute detailed consultation. Firstly a patients medical history and details of the presenting problem are taken followed by a full physical examination : postural, flexibility, as well as orthopaedic and neurological examination tests are conducted to determine the root of the presenting problem.

At this point if x rays are deemed clinically necessary they may be conveniently taken on site to aid a fast diagnosis of the patients presenting condition. This cost is included in the charge of a new patient consultation. A full report of findings may then be given to the patient carefully explaining the problem and what the most effective form of treatment might be.

Sciatica Treatment

The sciatic nerves are the largest in the body running down the back of each leg.  The pain caused by irritation of these sciatic nerves can for some be almost unbearable with little or no relief.

But few people connect the problem to the spine where the sciatic nerve roots exit from the spinal cord.  When these nerve roots are irritated or pinched it can cause an extremely painful flare-up of one or both of the nerves down the legs, causing extreme pain.

What seems like an insurmountable problem can respond dramatically to the restoration of normal spinal function, taking the pressure off those major nerve roots.

Like other health problems the cause must be found and corrected.

Dr. Veal qualified with an Honours degree from the University of Glamorgan, Wales in 2001. After completing his degree in Chiropractic, he then moved to the south west of England to finish his final fifth year of training in private practice.

He spent four years in private practice and whilst doing so completed hundreds of hours of further education within his specialty area the management of sports injury and extremity conditions, these included common conditions such as shoulder tendonitis and rotator cuff tear to those as diverse as plantar fasciitis (heel spur syndrome) and Achilles tendonitis in the foot.

He travels regularly to the UK and Europe as well as previously to the US attending educational courses to remain at the top of his field and abreast of current developments in the management of physical conditions.

Dr. Olivia qualified with honours following a four-year degree programme in 2001. Her link to the area goes back much further as she attended primary school in Camolin and attended secondary school in Bunclody at the FCJ.

After graduation Olivia travelled to Cornwall to complete the fifth year of her training in a progressive practice with contracts in the manufacturing industry. Through her work there Olivia gained valuable experience in the prevention and management of back pain and associated conditions in an industrial setting and worked with companies to improve productivity and reduce absenteeism in the workplace through good work practices as well as effective chiropractic treatment.

Upon returning to Ireland Olivia in conjunction with her husband Michael established the clinic with the aim of offering high quality Chiropractic care as well as onsite x ray facilities to allow for better diagnosis of physical conditions.

Olivia keeps abreast of all developments in the management of back pain and the physical treatment of it as and has featured as a guest on South East radio talking about chiropractic care and recently as a guest on the Karl Fitzpatrick Business Matters show discussing Ergonomics and prevention of  injury in the workplace.

Olivia is also the clinic coordinator of the straighten up Ireland campaign a voluntary campaign whereby the clinic chiropractors visit local schools most recently Barntown NS to provide advice to staff parents and pupils on prevention of back pain through good posture, correct lifting technique and simple exercises.

Dr. Yvonne also graduated from the University of Glamorgan Wales with a Masters and from there she moved to St Andrews in Scotland into private practice. Within this practice Yvonne was heavily involved in the treatment of golfers suffering from back-related complaints as well as sports injuries relating to golf.

Subsequently Yvonne originally from Sligo wished to relocate back to Ireland and she was a welcome addition to the team at Gorey Family Chiropractic clinic in 2011. Dr. Yvonne also regularly attends both national and internationally based seminars and courses, most recently training in the provision of medical dry needling, a form of acupuncture for the benefit of her patients.
