About Stillorgan Chiropractic

Stillorgan Chiropractic Clinic is conveniently located at 20 Merville Road, Stillorgan.. There is plenty of free parking along the road. We are open late evenings as well as on Saturdays for your convenience.

The clinic has the most modern equipment to safely and effectively treat people of all ages. The Doctor of Chiropractic is a specialist in the detection and correction of spine and joint related problems. Dr Andrew is a 2001 Master of Chiropractic graduate from the AECC college in the UK as well as having  previously completed a physiology degree with honours. He continues to attend seminars to stay up to date on current and specialist subjects such as paediatrics, sporting injuries and rehabilitation.

Your first visit will include a careful history and examination to determine if chiropractic is a suitable treatment. Our practice mambers range from newborn babies to elderly people in their 90's! If necessary, imaging such as xray or MRI can be ordered closeby within a short time.

The hands-on approach will help you to return to activity as quickly as possible by restoring normal motion and it's related areas. There is an emphasis on finding the cause as providing quick relief.

No referral is necessary to make an appointment. In fact Chiropractic should be the First Choice when it comes to spine and related disorders.

Ignoring or masking symptoms such as pain can lead to more chronic and debilitating episodes further down the line, so quick intervention is key to a full resolution.

"This has worked well and I am seeing definite improvement"

Treatment Received: Chiropractor Consultation
I had Lower back pain - spasms created difficulty walking and standing ad hoc so hard to identify what the reason for this was. The Chiropractor identified my sleep behaviour - sleeping on stomach was causing the issue. He advised on ways to change sleep behaviour as well as some exercise regime to work on to help extend the muscles - this has worked well and I am seeing definite improvement.
Friendly, engaging, didn't just do physical manipulation but explained who the body works and what I personally need to do to make a more sustainable impact for the longterm

"Top quality chiropractic treatment"
4.5 50Reviewed 22 Nov 2016 Verified user. Review confirmed by phone.
Treatment Received: Chiropractor Consultation
I originally chose this clinic as it was local to me and very convenient. On first impressions I thought the clinic didn't look great and I was apprehensive about my appointment. However, I needn't have worried and the treatment I received was top quality and good value for money, in line with other physiotherapy sessions I've undertaken.

I've booked into a follow up appointment and a treatment plan has been outlined for me.

I had some difficulty getting in contact with the clinic initially, but eventually got all the information I needed through WhatClinic and also used this website to arrange my booking.

Dr Andrew Doody responded to this review:

Hi David and thanks for the feedback - glad you were happy with our service. Many people are apprehensive when they fist visit, as they are unsure what to expect. We are the third largest health profession utilised by the public worldwide and this figure is still too small. Many more people could live happier, healthier lives when they are mobile and know what our bodies need to function. This requires a balanced nervous system, the message system of our body, protected by the the head and spine, which regulates every function in the body from immunity to hormone secretion to healing broken bones. Many studies show its effectiveness for treating back pain, headaches etc but they should know that this is because their nerve systems are able to signal properly so the body can get on with the job or internally regulating itself (homeostasis).

"the experience pleasant and quick!"
5 50Reviewed 10 Aug 2011 We were unable to verify the reviewer.
Treatment Received: Back Pain Treatment
The first time I attended Stillorgan Chiropractic was when I was pregnant. I was suffering a lot of low back pain and pain in my right hip. Normally I would have reached for the painkillers but being pregnant I couldn't! I was a bit nervous the first time but I was completely reassured and found the experience pleasant and quick! Within a few sessions the hip pain had disappeared and my low back pain had greatly eased off. I now am a regular attendee as is my baby. I haven't had to reach for the painkillers since!

Dr Andrew Doody

Job Title:
  Doctor
Specialisations:
Chiropractic, Dietetics (Nutrition), Exercise Medicine, Massage Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy, Orthotics, Physical Therapy, Preventive Medicine, Sport and Exercise Science, Sports Medicine
Languages:
  English
Biography:

Andrew is a native Dubliner who has been serving the Stillorgan area for over 15 years now.

He first qualified from Trinity College Dublin with a BSc in Natural Sciences (Physiology). He then went on to study a further five years at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth qualifying with an MSc in Human Sciences (Chiropractic). Chiropractic education has equivalent training hours to medicine, with an emphasis on spinal mechanics, treatment of injury, pain management and prevention/rehabilitation. The goal is a quick return to activity and prevention of recurrence.

Having been helped personally by a chiropractor for a disc injury playing rugby, Andrew made a career change from Sports Medicine to Chiropractic. The hands-on approach and the focus on cause as well as prevention allows chiropractors to direct their treatment to correcting spinal imbalances. There is an epidemic in spinal problems effecting people of all ages. Most of us will have an episode of acute back pain in our lifetime. Chiropractors focus on the structure and how it relates to function, so that their assessment can often identify the underlying cause. They are also trained in reading XRay and MRI scans to help identify the problem and recommend certain exercises and lifestyle modifications when necessary. This holistic approach is the key to the maintenance of true health, rather than masking symptoms.

The Doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and the prevention of disease.
