Small, fine needles are inserted into acupoints and lines on the face to stimulate blood flow and collagen production. A course of 15 treatments is recommended over ten weeks for best results. The face appears rejuvenated, lines are reduced and a lifting effect is obtained.Results may vary according to the age of the patient and the degree of skin sagging and wrinkling. The treatment is completed by the application of a nourishing, natural face mask and light facial massage.Prices shown are per session. (Make-up sessions not available)  

Assessment of the patients health and a complete medical history is taken, including tongue and pulse diagnosis. Current or past fertility treatments/pregnancies are also taken into account. Treatment is with acupuncture, homeopathy and dietary/ lifestyle advice. Acupuncture can be used  in conjunction with IVF and will improve the chances of its success. A course of treatments, tailored to the patient's individual needs, will be necessary. Point prescriptions vary according to the phases of the  menstrual cycle, so it is important to persevere with the treatments over several months in order to achieve the desired results.

Many people find an improvement in their health and wellbeing when they eliminate certain foods and other items such as some  toiletries, cosmetics from their lifesytle. Allergy( or,more correctly, intolerance) testing pinpoints , through Kinesiology, those foods and substances which may be creating ill health. The patient simply touches the suspect food , whilst the practitioner tests the reflex of the anterior deltoid muscle (in the upper arm). If the patient is able to hold the arm up, the food is okay. If, however, the muscle feels weak and the patient cannot hold it up, then the food is a stress to the patient. Further testing can be done to ascertain which specific system of the body is being challenged by the substance and also to pinpoint which remedies (nutritional or homeopathic) may be beneficial.

Acupuncture offers a non-invasive approach to treating infertility and research has shown that it increases a couples’ ability to conceive naturally. Acupuncture can be combined with IVF and IUI to help increase the chances of conceiving. It helps by : increasing the blood flow to the ovaries, icreasing the lining of the womb, increasing blood flow to the testicles, regulating the body’s natural hormonal production, relaxing the body and reducing stress levels.

Cupping is the term applied to a technique that uses small glass jars or bamboo cups as suction devices that are placed on the skin.Once the suction has occurred, the cups can be gently moved across the skin. The suction in the cups causes the skin and superficial muscle layer to be lightly drawn into the cup. Cupping is much like the inverse of massage - rather than applying pressure to muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward. For most patients, this is a particularly relaxing and relieving sensation. Once suctioned, the cups are generally left in place for about ten minutes while the patient relaxes. This is similar to the practice of Tui Na, a traditional Chinese medicine massage technique that targets acupuncture points as well as painful body parts, and is well known to provide relief through pressure.The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system. Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite. For weight loss and cellulite treatments, oil is first applied to the skin, and then the cups are moved up and down the surrounding area.

Our chief practitioner, Dr Jane Li has had over 25 years of experience in reproductive health and is a TCM expert in the field ranging from conception, each trimester of pregnancy to post-natal care as well as male infertility issues. Fertility issues can be caused by underlying health conditions such as uterine fibroids, blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis or polycystic ovaries. Infuriatingly, they can also be unexplained. Acupuncture Acupuncture is arguably the best known branch of traditional Chinese medicine, as a treatment, it can be traced back 5,000 years. As a form of stimulus therapy, acupuncture is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine to restore health by way of correcting imbalances in the body. Acupuncture aims to regulate the meridians or channels of the body to re-open the Qi or energy of the body that may be blocked. Meridians (or channels) are a complex system of lines running over the body linking various points on the body’s surface. The Meridian system distributes Qi, Blood and Fluids around the body. Each Meridian has the same therapeutic and diagnostic associations as a particular organ of the body. There are two types of Channels: the regular Channels (called the Jing Mai) and the smaller offshoots of the main Channels called the collaterals (or Luo Mai). There are 14 main Meridians, one for each of the Organs, plus the governing and reception vessels (Du Mai and Ren Mai respectively). These help to regulate the flow of Qi and Blood. Tiny needles are inserted into the body at specific points. The sensations associated with acupuncture cannot be likened to pain, depending on the acupoint, sensations can vary between a pinch and an expanding feeling of the relevant area. At Health and Harmony, we only use one-use sterile acupuncture needles. We have found acupuncture to be the most popular form of TCM treatment when it comes to musculoskeletal pain but it should not be underestimated in treatments for infertility, respiratory conditions and digestive well-being.
