DERMAL FILLERS What are dermal fillers and how do they work?  The Dermal Fillers that I use are 100% hyaluronic acid based”, wrinkle-filling products.  These products are highly biocompatible and are slowly absorbed. Naturally present in the skin, hyaluronic acid preserves moisturising levels in the skin and boosts tone.  Hyaluronic acid is a powerful moisturising agent, the quantity of which in the dermis gradually decreases with age. As a result, the skin dries out and becomes fragile, and the first wrinkles appear. The tissues progressively sag and the face becomes hollow. Will it Hurt?  Dermal fillers are relatively painless because the gel is injected directly into the skin in very tiny amounts at a time using an ultra fine needle, although sensitivity can vary dependent on which areas of the face are being treated. Some patients may notice a slight throbbing or even stinging following injection, but this discomfort fades away shortly after. The procedure is very simple and convenient, with practically instant results! You should be able to resume normal activities directly after treatment. How long will it take to work?  After receiving your treatment, you will notice the effects immediately. You may also notice some temporary mild swelling but this will usually disappear in approximately 24 hours How long does it last?  The Dermal Fillers treatment can and should last between six and eighteen months (depending on volume and areas being treated) with no need to protect the treatment or use any cosmetics to increase it’s length, potency or effect.  Where can be treated?  Dermal fillers can be injected into the entire face (including the lips), neckline, neck and hands. 

A dermal filler is a substance which is Injected into the skin to replace the volume lost with age, by plumping it up and making it firmer.  This smoothes out lines and wrinkles, as well as rehydrating the skin from within, thus restoring the skin to its former youthful appearance.  These products are very effective in both men and women in helping to fill out lines around the lips and the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial lines).  Dermal fillers can be used to fill minor to moderate lines and wrinkles or deep folds. Dermal fillers can also be used for lip augmentation and when used for this purpose can lend volume and definition to lips, producing the classic pout and making lips look sensual. There are many types of dermal fillers on the market, but at Fresh Face we only use synthetically produced non-animal products consisting of Hyaluronic acid (HA) which can be found naturally in the body.  The results of dermal fillers can be seen immediately and typically last up to one year but this depends on your age, skin type, lifestyle factors.  You should experience minimal discomfort during treatment, with only transient redness, swelling or tenderness for 2-7 days after treatment. An anaesthetic cream can be applied to the area prior to treatment to help numb the area if required. Alternatively, a dental block can be given prior to treatment to completely numb the area.
