How do the injections work? A tiny amount is injected into the hyperactive muscles, which blocks the nerve impulse from reaching these muscles. The muscle simply relaxes or ‘goes to sleep’ and this relaxation enables the skin to relax and the lines smooth away.Treatment for wrinkles blocks the transmission of acetylcholine from the nerves to the muscle. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter which send a message to the muscle telling it to contract or tense up.
