Rating from 2 Reviews Sleeve Gastrectomy, the surgery went very wellStuart, UK, 04 Mar 17

Bruno Sgromo was excellent and 2 days after surgery I have little more than discomfort. With a BMI of <40 the SG was definitely the way to go, mainly because it allows all of the alimentary canal to be used. My hope is that my diabetes, hypertension and double knee replacement will benefit hugely by weight loss and I enter a new phase of my life with much optimism. I was very impressed with Bruno Sgromo from the outset and his stats show that he is an excellent young surgeon doing plenty of procedures. The Manor hospital is very good, it is efficient and well run. I was disappointed not to meet the dietician in hospital (this normally happens), but I was well prepared before hand and the advice given was suffice.

Rating from 5 Reviews Lost 3 stone in 12 weeksSandy, Aylesbury, 01 Dec 15

I had a gastric band fited on 22/8/2015 at the Leicester Hospital. From the first consultation I knew I was in safe hands. I have lost 3 stone in 12 weeks and it still coming off. The band however is only part of the weight loss programme, a sensible diet of small frequent meals properly chewed and enjoyed cannot be empasised enough. I spent one night in hospital and my partner stayed with me and was treated with courtesy. I have only needed one fill since the band was fitted and possibly may not need any more. The need for a fill is assessed on arrival, is quick and pain free. The bonus is the London clinic is at the back of the John Lewis store on Oxford street! The hospital is spotlessly clean. The staff are efficient and friendly and respond to need in a timely manner. Frequent telephone calls post surgery are maintained as needed and were reassuring. The calls reduced my stress levels and enhanced the recovery period. I was back to work after 2 weeks on light duties for a week. This hospital was recommended to me by a friend`s friend and I would not hesitate to recommend Chris Sutton and his team.

Gastric Band
Gastric Band £5495  -  £6595
Who is suitable for a Gastric Band operation? Whether or not you are suitable for an operation can only be decided after a careful discussion with a Surgeon who specialises in treating obesity. Surgery may bean option for a person: o  Who has a BMI of 30 or more o  Who has a BMI of 30, and a medical condition that would be improved by losing weight o  Who has made serious prolonged attempts to lose weight by other means o  Aged 18 or older o  Who does not have medical or psychological factors that make them unsuitable for an operation o  Who is fit enough for an operation and a general anaesthetic o  Who commits to long term follow up. o   We do not offer weight loss surgery to people who smoke. This information is for people who are having or thinking about having an operation to fit a gastric band. This is usually done by Keyholeor Laparoscopic Surgery. Gastric Banding is a type of weight loss surgery. The size of your stomach is reduced using a band so that only small meals can be eaten and you feel fuller sooner. Most patients will go home the day after their operation. Your surgeon will explain the benefits and risks of having a gastric band fitted, and will also discuss the alternatives to the operation. It is important to remember that your care may be different from how it is described here because it is adapted to meet your individual needs. We have learned that many potential problems after the surgery are related to the diet and most can be avoided byfollowing some simple rules.
Gastric Band to Bypass/Sleeve Revision Surgery £11995  -  £12995
Gastric band to bypass revision surgeryThere can be cases of weight regain or insufficient weight loss after a Gastric Bypass has taken place. In order to add more restriction or malabsorption, two potential procedures to consider are:• Conversion Band to bypass• Conversion Sleeve to bypass• CONVERSION OF LAPROSOCPIC BAND TO EITHER A BYPASS OR A SLEEVE - Revision Surgery • CONVERSION OF A BYPASS TO A LAPROSOCPIC BAND - Revision SurgeryIn the  case of weight regain, or insufficient weight loss, a conversion or also called revision surgery from an initial  weight loss operation to a Gastric Bypass is certainly possible. In most cases a conversion of an adjustable gastric banding to a Gastric Bypass can take place in one procedure. There are circumstances where  two interventions are necessary and this is when the gastric wall of your stomach where the band has been placed, is too fragile to form a new connection between your small bowel and that part of your upper stomach where the band was placed. Here at Tonic we understand and cater to each individual patient’s needs. We aim to support, guide and help you reach your ultimate weight goal and also offer you the best aftercare services.
Gastric Balloon From £3995
An Intragastric Balloon is a smallinflatable balloon, which can be used as a temporary aid to achieving weightloss in moderately obese patients.   This will mean that you can only eat small meals as the balloon willfill a large proportion of your stomach. You may also have the feeling of beingfuller for longer. Who is suitable for a Intra gastric Balloon? Whether or not you are suitable for aIntra gastric Balloon can only be decided after a careful discussion with asurgeon who specialises in treating obesity (bariatric surgeon). An Intragastric Balloon may be anoption for a person: To provide a short term solution forpatients who are struggling with their individual weight loss challenge. Or who has a BMI of 27  or more –in order to get body weight to a safer level before performing further weightloss surgery

Gastric Band Aftercare - Bristol

0117 325 6807 7b Aztec Centre, Park Avenue, Bristol, BS32 4TD
My name is Linsey Wilson and I have been Registered as a General Nurse for over 9 years.  I initially started my nursing career within Accident & Emergency and then changed direction from the public healthcare to work in the private sector.  After completing extensive specialist Bariatric training, I then traveled around the UK  gaining experience which enhanced my weight loss knowledge. While working in the private sector, I soon recognised the pitfalls that could be rectified.  The following points highlight the differences that I offer compared to a National Provider. Having the flexibility of an appointment in a week of contacting Gastric Band Aftercare, as opposed to only having the opportunity of booking an appointment in a clinic that is held only once or if you are lucky twice a month. 24 hour emergency support,  compared to 2/3 weeks expected wait , thus reducing complications such as erosion or slippage or even to avoid hospital admission due to dehydration which usually results in total aspiration and hence adds to further costs and precious time wasted.Supportive & informative assessment providing guidance with issues relating to the band and associated conditions.Telephone advice regarding any dietary information (sometimes no adjustment is necessary).Flexible, regular appointments to suit.Expertise with band adjustments.Very familiar with port locations having worked with surgeons across UK & Europe. No need for costly guided x raysCompetitive price.A warm

Mr Simon Monkhouse

0203 856 8521 Spire Gatwick Park Hospital, Povey Cross Road, Horley, RH6 0BB
Rating from 2 Reviews I am really pleased I chose this procedureSamantha, UK, 06 Jul 17

After much consideration and research, I opted to have the Gastric Sleeve. The reason I chose the sleeve was largely due to the lifestyle element it offered after the operation. My job involves a lot of travel and business events that involve dinners etc and I felt that the sleeve offered the most normal way of eating, albeit in tiny amounts. The sleeve procedure also removes the area of the stomach where the hunger hormone - Ghrelin is produced, therefore, you don't feel hunger and almost have to remind yourself to eat. I didn't want the gastric bypass as I couldn't risk having dumping syndrome, nor did I want to worry about eating the odd slider food. I was also really concerned about the level of malabsorption that the comes with the bypass - with both the sleeve and the bypass, this is an issue but is more of a concern with the bypass and I was concerned about my vitamin levels and the risk of hair loss post surgery. Whilst the sleeve does come with the risk of having a leak along the staple line, the percentage of people who have had a leak is very low and if you opt for a reputable surgeon and heed the advice from the bariatric team - the chances of a problem are very low. I would recommend the gastric sleeve to people who are looking to lead as normal life as possible, I am able to eat relatively normally but in very small portions. I am really pleased I chose this procedure and have absolutely no regrets over my decision. If I have one piece of advice to anyone considering bariatric surgery it would be to do your research on the clinic, the surgeon and the team, make sure you speak to people who have had experience of that team and don't opt for the cheapest package/place. This is major surgery that affects the rest of your life, making a decision based on cost could have far-reaching consequences. Reputable clinics/surgeons have support groups and information evenings that are free of charge to attend prior to you making a decision about having the operation and mean you can meet other patients who have had procedures under that surgeon and discuss their experiences, along with meeting the full team including the surgeon himself. This is imperative for you as a patient because it allows you to speak to a number of different people about the procedures they chose, why they chose them and their overall experience, thus allowing you to make an educated and informed a decision about your next steps. In my opinion, having my procedure done at the Spire, with Simon as my surgeon was worth every single penny and is an exceptional value. This is a life changing decision and one you cannot afford to make lightly. Research and meeting the team and their patients are absolutely essential. I was fortunate enough to have my procedure at The Spire hospital - Gatwick, under the surgeon Simon Monkhouse and his Bariatric team. After a lot of research on private clinics and surgeons, The Spire Group came recommended to me. When I met with Sarah one of the bariatric nurses to discuss my options, her level of knowledge and her advice based on the explanation of my lifestyle, gave me a lot of confidence. Her son also had a gastric sleeve procedure under Simon which gave me further reassurance. When I met with Simon to discuss the operation itself and make sure I was making the right decision in terms of the sleeve v bypass, he was extremely candid and open with me about the pro's and cons of each procedure. He explained both in great detail and went through the reasons for my decision carefully in order to ensure I was making the correct choice. Again, his experience, his honesty and his understanding reassured me that I was making the correct decision. The Spire package was not the cheapest option but it was the most inclusive of all the private options I had explored (many private options have a lot of hidden costs) offering 2 years of all inclusive care and support, along with a dietitian and also an assessment with a psychologist to make sure that I was doing this for all of the right reasons. Simon's team (including Simon himself) offer around the clock care, his nurses are always available to answer any questions and their level of personal care is phenomenal. They know each and every one of their patients so well and understand the individual circumstances of each. I literally could not fault Simon and his team and I feel privileged to have been able to have my operation performed by an exceptional surgeon and his exceptional team. I know many people opt for surgery abroad as it is cheaper, however, following my operation, I could only think how glad I was that I chose to have it in the UK and with such an amazing surgeon. I am now 6 weeks post-op and have had no problems whatsoever... my weight loss is good, I am eating well, I have got no medical problems as a result of the operation and I am still receiving constant after care from the team at the Spire. I literally cannot fault my entire experience and my only regret is not having done this sooner.

Weight Loss Surgery - Tunbridge Wells

FRating from 1 Review Amazing!Stacey, UK, 09 Jan 17

I decided, after many years, to go for bariatric surgery to help with my weight loss journey. It wasn't a decision I took lightly but felt it was the best option for me. I had a gastric band fitted, after going through the best options for me. Honestly the pre op side wasn't very good. Appointment Trent were being made and not sent to me and when I turned up for appointments they were at the wrong time and date. However the service once I checked into the hospital was amazing and I couldn't fault it. Mr Hamouda and the team at the Nuffield Tunbridge Wells were amazing.
