Tonic Cosmetic & Weight Loss Leicester

Rating from 1 Review So far everything has been excellent and I'm sure my treatment will be tooLiz, UK, 15 Dec 16

After enquiring with 20 different clinics Tonic were the only clinic to get back to me, so I decided to go ahead and book a consultation with them. The staff are all very friendly, the facilities are nice, the surgery is based within a hospital which I was surprised by, but once I met the doctor I knew this was where I wanted to have my treatment. I had two consultations so far and both consultations went very well and I received all the information I required to book my surgery for January. During the consultation I felt very comfortable, the doctor was very nice and friendly. It seemed like they were more interested in your well being than making money, the doctor suggested only going through with the treatment if I was 100% comfortable and guided me through a range of options he felt might suit me. They are also very accommodating, they make time for you. I was delighted to be able to be fitted in at 19:30 one evening. So far everything has been excellent and I'm sure my treatment will be too.

Rating from 4 Reviews I felt that it was a good fit for meSarah, Carlow, 03 Apr 17

I had surgery for a Gastric Band, the surgeon and staff were very informed and very helpful. Their price was good and I actually took time to check their reviews where I felt that it was a good fit for me then I decided to choose them. They really took care of me from the beginning to the end of my treatment. Their service is fantastic, I received follow up after care treatment. I am also receiving regular meetings with them regarding my treatment. If there's any questions the Doctor is available and he will always respond. I am very happy with their service.

Rating from 14 Reviews I am happyKylie, UK, 23 Jun 17

I had a lap-band fitted 15th June 2017 by Mr Sherif Awad at Derby private hospital. Operation went well and staff at the hospital were great. I'm slightly disappointed with my dietitian only because we seem to be having some communication problems but otherwise everything has been good. I lost 10 lbs my first week which is a great start. I'm happy. Brilliant staff at tonic

Your ConsultationPlanning starts with your consultation….. Consultations should only be given by one person, a highly experiencedsurgeon who is the only one capable of determining whether you are a suitablecandidate for the surgery that you are asking for.  Counsellors, or nursing, irrespective oftheir experience are not licensed to operate and although they may assist withsimple explanations, you should not allow yourself to be placed in a situationwhere they advise surgery. At theconsultation you will not find counsellors. All consultations are carried outby highly trained Cosmetic GMC Registered Surgeons. We do not charge for Consultations. A very high degree of knowledge and skill is required for awell-balanced opinion about the necessity for the operation in which you may beinterested.  You must appreciate thateven when the advice is not in favour of surgery, it comes from a highlyqualified person who has given his time, attention and experience to yourproblem, consulting, both pre and post-operatively accounts for over 50 percent of surgeons times and good ones do not give this time away.  Neither will they tell you that you needsurgery when you don’t. Surgeons build reputation not only by the work they carry out, but thework they decline.
Gastric Band
Gastric Band £5495  -  £6595
Who is suitable for a Gastric Band operation? Whether or not you are suitable for an operation can only be decided after a careful discussion with a Surgeon who specialises in treating obesity. Surgery may bean option for a person: o  Who has a BMI of 30 or more o  Who has a BMI of 30, and a medical condition that would be improved by losing weight o  Who has made serious prolonged attempts to lose weight by other means o  Aged 18 or older o  Who does not have medical or psychological factors that make them unsuitable for an operation o  Who is fit enough for an operation and a general anaesthetic o  Who commits to long term follow up. o   We do not offer weight loss surgery to people who smoke. This information is for people who are having or thinking about having an operation to fit a gastric band. This is usually done by Keyholeor Laparoscopic Surgery. Gastric Banding is a type of weight loss surgery. The size of your stomach is reduced using a band so that only small meals can be eaten and you feel fuller sooner. Most patients will go home the day after their operation. Your surgeon will explain the benefits and risks of having a gastric band fitted, and will also discuss the alternatives to the operation. It is important to remember that your care may be different from how it is described here because it is adapted to meet your individual needs. We have learned that many potential problems after the surgery are related to the diet and most can be avoided byfollowing some simple rules.

OxBariatric via The Manor Hospital

01865 900868 The Manor Hospital, Headington, Oxford, 0X3 7RP
Rating from 2 Reviews Sleeve Gastrectomy, the surgery went very wellStuart, UK, 04 Mar 17

Bruno Sgromo was excellent and 2 days after surgery I have little more than discomfort. With a BMI of <40 the SG was definitely the way to go, mainly because it allows all of the alimentary canal to be used. My hope is that my diabetes, hypertension and double knee replacement will benefit hugely by weight loss and I enter a new phase of my life with much optimism. I was very impressed with Bruno Sgromo from the outset and his stats show that he is an excellent young surgeon doing plenty of procedures. The Manor hospital is very good, it is efficient and well run. I was disappointed not to meet the dietician in hospital (this normally happens), but I was well prepared before hand and the advice given was suffice.

Mr Simon Monkhouse

0203 856 8521 Spire Gatwick Park Hospital, Povey Cross Road, Horley, RH6 0BB
Rating from 1 Review I am really pleased I chose this procedureSamantha, UK, 06 Jul 17

After much consideration and research, I opted to have the Gastric Sleeve. The reason I chose the sleeve was largely due to the lifestyle element it offered after the operation. My job involves a lot of travel and business events that involve dinners etc and I felt that the sleeve offered the most normal way of eating, albeit in tiny amounts. The sleeve procedure also removes the area of the stomach where the hunger hormone - Ghrelin is produced, therefore, you don't feel hunger and almost have to remind yourself to eat. I didn't want the gastric bypass as I couldn't risk having dumping syndrome, nor did I want to worry about eating the odd slider food. I was also really concerned about the level of malabsorption that the comes with the bypass - with both the sleeve and the bypass, this is an issue but is more of a concern with the bypass and I was concerned about my vitamin levels and the risk of hair loss post surgery. Whilst the sleeve does come with the risk of having a leak along the staple line, the percentage of people who have had a leak is very low and if you opt for a reputable surgeon and heed the advice from the bariatric team - the chances of a problem are very low. I would recommend the gastric sleeve to people who are looking to lead as normal life as possible, I am able to eat relatively normally but in very small portions. I am really pleased I chose this procedure and have absolutely no regrets over my decision. If I have one piece of advice to anyone considering bariatric surgery it would be to do your research on the clinic, the surgeon and the team, make sure you speak to people who have had experience of that team and don't opt for the cheapest package/place. This is major surgery that affects the rest of your life, making a decision based on cost could have far-reaching consequences. Reputable clinics/surgeons have support groups and information evenings that are free of charge to attend prior to you making a decision about having the operation and mean you can meet other patients who have had procedures under that surgeon and discuss their experiences, along with meeting the full team including the surgeon himself. This is imperative for you as a patient because it allows you to speak to a number of different people about the procedures they chose, why they chose them and their overall experience, thus allowing you to make an educated and informed a decision about your next steps. In my opinion, having my procedure done at the Spire, with Simon as my surgeon was worth every single penny and is an exceptional value. This is a life changing decision and one you cannot afford to make lightly. Research and meeting the team and their patients are absolutely essential. I was fortunate enough to have my procedure at The Spire hospital - Gatwick, under the surgeon Simon Monkhouse and his Bariatric team. After a lot of research on private clinics and surgeons, The Spire Group came recommended to me. When I met with Sarah one of the bariatric nurses to discuss my options, her level of knowledge and her advice based on the explanation of my lifestyle, gave me a lot of confidence. Her son also had a gastric sleeve procedure under Simon which gave me further reassurance. When I met with Simon to discuss the operation itself and make sure I was making the right decision in terms of the sleeve v bypass, he was extremely candid and open with me about the pro's and cons of each procedure. He explained both in great detail and went through the reasons for my decision carefully in order to ensure I was making the correct choice. Again, his experience, his honesty and his understanding reassured me that I was making the correct decision. The Spire package was not the cheapest option but it was the most inclusive of all the private options I had explored (many private options have a lot of hidden costs) offering 2 years of all inclusive care and support, along with a dietitian and also an assessment with a psychologist to make sure that I was doing this for all of the right reasons. Simon's team (including Simon himself) offer around the clock care, his nurses are always available to answer any questions and their level of personal care is phenomenal. They know each and every one of their patients so well and understand the individual circumstances of each. I literally could not fault Simon and his team and I feel privileged to have been able to have my operation performed by an exceptional surgeon and his exceptional team. I know many people opt for surgery abroad as it is cheaper, however, following my operation, I could only think how glad I was that I chose to have it in the UK and with such an amazing surgeon. I am now 6 weeks post-op and have had no problems whatsoever... my weight loss is good, I am eating well, I have got no medical problems as a result of the operation and I am still receiving constant after care from the team at the Spire. I literally cannot fault my entire experience and my only regret is not having done this sooner.

Gateway Health - Parkside Medical Centre

0203 322 9884 ext: 15453 Parkside Medical Centre, Tawney Street,, Boston, PE21 6PF
This group of clinics with their head office in Lincoln in Lincolnshire specialise in gastric band procedures for weight loss. All the procedures both non-surgical weightloss (gastric balloon) and surgical weightloss (gastric band, gastric sleeve, gastric bypass) are performed at the specialist hospital locations and all consultations and follow up care take place at the patient's local clinic or hospital. Every procedure has inclusive aftercare focussed on maximising a patient's weightloss through education and support. Understanding how to live with these procedures and being supported through the changes this may require is vital in achieving successful weightloss.
Bariatric Surgery Consultation Free
All prospective patients attend an initial, private consultation with one of our senior specialist practitioners. In this consultation we will conduct a thorough medical history and begin to build a picture of your eating habits and behaviours, which will inform the way we structure your aftercare programme. We will also discuss in depth the benefits and risks involved with our procedures and answer any questions you have, before making a recommendation as to which procedure, in our medical opinion, will be most suitable for you. Patients are free to choose their procedure within NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) guidelines, but ethically we have a duty to provide our medical opinion. The patient’s choice would only be refused in cases where proceeding with the chosen surgery could be deemed unethical (where successful weight loss is extremely unlikely) or medically unsafe (where the patient would be being put at un-necessary risk). Wherever possible we will advise patients over the phone, prior to the initial consultation, if we feel they are unlikely to be suitable candidates due to existing medical conditions.
Gastric Band From £5950
Our gastric band programme includes 2 years of clinical aftercare and lifetime support. Patients receive a wealth of expert advice on living with their band and maintaining their weight long-term. They have access to unlimited band adjustments during their 2 year programme and fortnightly clinic appointments when necessasry. Experience tells us that at 12 months, 95% of patients understand how to live and work with their band which is why we are confident patients do not require a longer programme of clinical support.
Gastric Bypass From £8950
Our gastric bypass programme includes 3 years of aftercare and lifetime surgical follow up (as required) from one of the UKs leading bariatric surgeons, Mr Roger Ackroyd. Patients are seen in clinic by a specialist nurse on a regular basis to assess their progress and to provide education and support on living with their procedure. Our bariatric dietician will deliver a programme of expert advice on maintaining the healthy, varied diet required with this procedure.
