I had VSG (vertical sleeve gastrectomy) performed on July 27th. It went even better and with less pain than what I anticipated. The doctors were very kind and went into a lot of detail when answering all of my questions. The staff are very kind and helpful, and the only real negative thing I can say is that hardly anybody speaks English, which makes for a great language barrier. However, you can always use google translator to communicate, all of the nurses are very sweet and gentle and keen on communicating with you this way.
Overall, I was initially really worried because I visited the hospital alone, for me it was a travel to another country plus a surgery, but the staff are really great professionals, they made me feel safe and reassured me by answering any and all questions I had and I got a lot of those. Fatih Ozturk is the person I want to specifically mention. He was kind and helpful beyond words. He was there for me at a time when I felt alone (because I was) and down, he made sure to get my mind off of these negative feelings and thoughts, and helped me really focus on my recovery and health.
To all of those who consider travelling for this or any type of surgery, I would recommend that you travel with a companion as the stress surrounding the surgery really gets to you at one point.
I chose this hospital because of the reviews here. The hospital is clean, hygiene is at a very high level, the doctors that treated me, the nurses and the staff, in general, are very sweet, they always smile and are ready to answer any questions you might have. The only little issue is the language barrier, but it can be bypassed by using google translator.
