Bariatric Surgeon David Schroeder - Bariatirc SurgeonDavid Schroeder is an experienced laparoscopic abdominal surgeon who has been performing obesity surgery in the Waikato area for 18 years. He pioneered laparoscopic obesity surgery in New Zealand, introducing the Gastric Band in 1996, and performing the first laparoscopic gastric bypass in New Zealand in 2000. He has performed over 1800 primary and revisional obesity operations. He is a member of several international obesity surgery societies, and is constantly updating surgical techniques and auditing outcomes. As a result, he has developed a keen interest in the role of the brain in getting the best results after surgery on the stomach. This is reflected in the team he has chosen to help patients achieve their goals.

Bariatric Surgeon Atul Dhabuwala - Bariatric SurgeonAtul Dhabuwala is an experienced General Surgeon who completed his medical degree in Bombay, India and extended his skills in Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal surgery in Germany, France and New Zealand. Since 2008, Atul has been working as a Consultant Surgeon at Hutt Hospital, and privately at Boulcott Hospital. Having had the privilege of training with two leading obesity surgeons in New Zealand, enthusiasm for obesity surgery has been inevitable.

Bariatric Program Co-Ordinator Andrea Schroeder - Bariatric Program Co-OrdinatorAndrea Schroeder is a Registered General Nurse and Obesity Consultant who has been working within the field of bariatric surgery for the past 12 years. Her role is to oversee the integration of the entire bariatric teams in Wellington and Hamilton, as well as support patients clinically following Gastric Band surgery. She is responsible for band adjustments as well as ongoing education and advice.
