Biography:
Graduated from Athens College in 1991. He studied Swedish in Stockholm University and enrolled in the Medical School of Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden in 1993. He graduated in 1998 and did his 21-months long internship in Gävle-Sandviken Hospital. After 5 years of residency training in the Karolinska University Hospital, he became a general surgeon in 2006, Board Certified from the Swedish Surgical Society. During his residency he began his research which led to the defense of his Thesis (PhD) in the Karolinska Institutet in 2007. He worked as an attending in the Upper Gastrointestinal Section of the Department of Surgery where he did his residency. After passing the American exams (ECFMG/USMLE), he was accepted in Scottsdale Bariatric Center (Center of Excellence) in the United States, where he was trained in laparoscopic bariatric surgery on hundreds of patients. Today he is the only surgeon in Greece with such a training approved by the Fellowship Council of the USA. After the fellowship, he worked again in Sweden, in the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery in Stockholm, exclusively with bariatric patients. He is involved in various research projects, and has published articles in international peer reviewed journals and conferences. After almost 20 years of training and working in Sweden and in the USA, he returns to his home country that he so much loves to offer his services, establishing Athen Bariatric. He is affiliated with various private hospitals in Athens, Greece, while at the same time, he regularly operates in Sweden as Senior Consultant (see detailed CV).

Anesthesiologist, Critical Care Physician.Received her undergraduate medical training at Guy’s and St. Thomas Medical and Dental Schools, King’s College, London, UK, where she graduated with distinctions/honors. After completing her Internal Medicine training at University of Maryland, Baltimore, Dr Giannakikou trained in Anesthesia at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, USA. During her senior resident year she specialized in Critical Care Anesthesia. She subsequently completed a fellowship program in Critical Care Medicine, also at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is currently boarded both by the American Boards of Anesthesiology and the American Boards of Critical Care Medicine. She is currently working in private practice in Athens and still continues to be an active staff at the Johns Hopkins Hospital by working part-time at their Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine as both an anesthesiologist and an intesivist.
