About Care&Cure Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine -Tuam

Care Cure Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Clinics believe that healing illness involves treating the whole person and using the information gathered to diagnose the root cause of discomfort or disease.

For example every body has a natural set point from which it is able to heal itself. As practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) we aim to return you to balance by stimulating your own natural Qi energy to work on restoring your body's well-being.

For this purpose we have set up a FREE CONSULTATION to discover the root cause of your symptoms by first finding out about you and your health. This is done by asking lots of questions, which includes such things as your sleep, appetite and prespiration. Having asked these questions your practitioner will then carry out a physical examination of your tongue and pulse.

During these consultations, the uniqueness of each person is taken into account and great care is taken to provide treatments that are specific to individual patient needs. And you don't have to be sick to avail of our services. Greater energy, a soothing massage or facial acupuncture is a welcome treat for any body anytime.

Specialising in Treatments of Acupuncture, Acupressure, Chinese Massage, Moxibustion, Ear Candles, Allergy Testing and Herbal Medicine.

TCM is effective in treating pain, inflammation, breathing disorders, skin problems, mental and emotional disorders, eye, nose and throat, digestive problems, immune function disorders, female fertility and menstrual symptoms, male impotence and premature ejaculation.

Care Cure Clinics are located in Galway City, Loughrea, Tuam, Dun Laoghaire, Longford and Wicklow Town.

Increase Fertility with Acupuncture.

There are many reasons why couples have difficulty conceiving - irregular menstruation, hormone imbalance, cold uterus, low sperm count to name a few. Whatever the reason infertility can be a major cause of stress and hopelessness in otherwise healthy couples.

Acupuncture combined with herbal medicine has been used for centuries to treat the causes of infertility. Acupuncture in particular has been known to dramatically increase fertility by regulating the menstrual cycle in females and invigorating and increasing sperm count in males.

A German Study conducted in 2002 used two groups of woman experiencing fertility difficulties, to determine the effects of acupuncture on IVF treatments. In the first group acupuncture treatments were carried out 25 minutes before embryo transfer and 25 minutes after the embryo was inserted into the uterus. In the second group no acupuncture treatments were given.

Study findings showed a successful pregnancy rate of 42.5% in the first group of woman compared to 26.3% in the second group that had no acupuncture treatments. This highlighted a significant difference of 16.2% between the two groups of woman.

In each Care Cure clinic we look for the underlying problem of disharmony which is preventing conception. Treatments for fertility difficulties and male impotency usually include acupuncture, acupressure, moxibustion and herbal medicines.

Chinese massage is a form of therapy, which involves applying structured therapy to the soft tissues of the body or successively to the whole body.

Chinese massage can be used to heal injury, relieve stress, manage pain and improve circulation.

Chinese Massage can also be used to manipulate acupuncture points to lose weight, clear congestion, ease digestion problems and calm anxiety.

Sessions typically last anything from 20 – 45 minutes and pricing is directly correlated to time.

Holistic Health

Acupressure is a good alternative for anyone suffering from a phobia of needles as it follows the same principle as acupuncture.

It works by stimulating the same acupuncture points on the surface of the body but instead of using needles, the practitioner will apply pressure with the hands.

Acupressure is an effective method of improving blood circulation and repairing tissue damage throughout the body.

Via nerve stimulation acupressure can induce relaxation and improve skin tone, ease tension in muscles and joints, repair facial lymph damage and generally tone the body. For this reason it is often used as a facial beauty therapy.

Acupressure has also seen considerable success in curing insomnia, lessening fatigue and dispelling back and joint pain.

Holistic Health Consultation

Holistic medicine is now used all over they world. What this means for you is that each part of your physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions are equally important an imbalances in any of these areas can contribute to illness.

Holistic medicine considers a person’s mind and body, diet and exercise, lifestyle and relationships, work and leisure, achievements and problems. Whether you have a pain in your leg, a headache, or are suffering from stress Chinese Medicine follows the holistic principle.

Chinese medicine states that illness results when there is disharmony in the body, or when something is out of balance. The concept of organs is different to that of Western medicine. In Chinese medicine organs are viewed according to their perceived functions, rather than literal functions.

In Care Cure Clinics we say that the enlightened person eats when hungry and sleeps when tired. This means living in harmony with the energy of the seasons and with the particular requirements of mind and body, which empowers you to influence your own health destiny.

San Fu Moxta (20 mins)

San Fu Moxibusion is an Amazingly Effective method of treating Asthma, Hay Fever and other Respiratory diseases.

This treatment is traditionally used in Chinese Medicine and involves mixing a specially chosen herbal formula into a medicinal paste, which is then taped by experienced acupuncturists to points on the body called acumoxa points. The paste is applied to the body 3 times on each Fu Periods, which are dates, that are predicted to be the hottest days of the year.

Research studies recommend that patients stick as close to the dates as possible and try to ensure that treatment is done in summer. Start dates for this year and the following 4 years are as follows.

2014:  July 18, July 28, August 7

2015:  July 13, July 23, August 2

2016:  July 17, July 27, August 6

2017:  July 12, July 22, August 1

The treatment is given on the first day of each Fu period; so the patient comes in once every 10 days to have the paste taped to points mostly located either on their back or lower legs.

This practice is so popular and famed in China that Traditional Chinese hospitals are known to have queues out the doors on these dates with patients waiting for hours to have their points taped.

During the treatment the skin can blister which is normal. You can come to us to pierce the blister or you can let the water out yourself with a sterile needle.

This treatment is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant, has a heart condition or

Reflexology (30 mins)

Reflexology is a gentle non-invasive therapy based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears that correspond to every organ gland and system in the body.

By stimulating these reflexes, reflexology encourages deep healing and tranquil relaxation.

This therapy is particularly beneficial for joint mobilisation, migraine, sinus, digestion, back problems and stress related conditions as it discharges negativity and stimulates the body’s own immune system for self-healing.

It can also enhance general well-being so why not book yourself a treat and pop into your local Care Cure Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine for a soothing reflexology session. Sessions typically last about 35 minutes and prices vary with time allowed for treatment.

Cosmetic Acupuncture (1 hour)

Facial rejuvenation is a cosmetic technique used to encourage new cellular growth, enrich the complexion and boost skin and muscle tone.

This is acheived by invigorating the vital life force energy Qi and encouraging the blood supply to the face. The acupuncturist inserts small disposable needles into the face or if you have a phobia of needles they can acheive the same effect by applying pressure to  the same acupuncture points. If needles are used they will not penetrate deeply, only being inserted just under the surface of the skin.

Acupuncturists tend to encourage those opting for facial rejuvenation to commit to a healthy diet and good skin care. Results can show a decided improvement after just one treatment.

At the end of treatments the person will not only benefit from lookingin the mirror and feeling good about themselves. They will also get the increased benefit of an energetic and holistic treatment that balances mind, body and spirit.

So why not gift yourself or a loved one with this beauty treatment. Acupuncture believes that to keep your skin looking good on the outside, it is important to work on what is inside. For more information please visit our Care Cure Clinics and avail of a Free Consultation to suggest best rejuvenation for you.
