What is Orthognathic Surgery?

Orthognathic Surgery is jaw surgery or surgery to correct the function of the jaw. It is performed to help patients bite correctly, to correct underbites or overbites, speak with clarity and, sometimes, to help them breathe more easily. The procedure can take up to two to four hours.

Is Orthognathic Surgery painful?

Orthognathic Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and patients should not feel pain during the procedure.

How long does recovery after Orthognathic Surgery take?

Patients take one to four weeks to recover from jaw surgery for a single jaw. They may take six to eight weeks to recover from double jaw surgery. Recovery depends on each individual patient. Patients should not travel by air until cleared to do so by their surgeon.

What post-operative care is required after Orthognathic Surgery?

Patients should sleep on their backs with their head elevated for at least a week. They should try to talk and exercise their jaw. They should take short walks. They should not do strenuous exercises or lift heavy objects for at least two months after surgery. They can place hot or cold packs on the swollen area to bring down any swelling.  They should take all the prescribed medications correctly.

I have been suffering from my reduced vision. That is to say that I had to wear contact lenses and glasses for approximately six years. I finally decided to do the Eye surgery in Turkey for a perfect price, also a very excellent treatment done by both the surgeon and his assistants! I have done the so-called " PRK / Lasek" surgery since the surgeon decided upon doing it because of my thin cornea. As noticed the results went absolutely fine and you could pretty much rely upon the treatment. I felt sure that the doctors are most familiar with the procedures and everything they do. Excellent. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Since I don't speak Turkish, they were very friendly toward me. I would certainly recommend this Medical treatment for anybody suffering from his/her vision. I have received eye drops after I have done my post controls. I have been in the hospital for a few times for a recheck up for my eyes and their development after the surgery. I was guided by Emre Altin. A very kind, helpful gentleman who did his best to satisfy me and help me with the translations since I don't speak Turkish. I was treated by Dr Hanefi Cakir and Erdinc Ceylan. I would definitely recommend this clinic highly by their kind and excellent medical treatment! I have been told much about the medical treatment in Turkey. A few other members have done the eye surgery in this clinic. I got to know some stuff about it. I also got highly recommended by others and wanted to have a visit to Istanbul to do the surgery. I got pleased with the services and recommendations. They were really prompt to help me. Their webpage " MedicTurkey" is also very informative about each and every procedure. But always ask and they will help you a lot. Until now I am very satisfied with the results. Though my eye is not 100% healed yet It will probably get better by these three months as the doctor advised me to use the eye drops.
