About Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound

MD Ultrasound, established fifteen years ago in 2002. We provide diagnostic
ultrasound services at our Limerick city centre clinic and at Cahercalla
Community Hospital & Clarecastle, Ennis. Highly trained Sonographers
backed by a Consultant Radiologist provide a comprehensive service
with no waiting lists.

Same day reporting service of urgent cases. GP referral is required.

Ultrasound Scans that we provide include:

  • General ultrasound - abdomen, pelvic, renal, testes, pediatric hips etc.
  • Maternity Ultrasound - early OB, anomaly scan, nuchal translucency, gender, 3D/4D scans etc.
  • Specialist Ultrasound - DVT, carotid doppler, transvaginal, musculoskeletal etc.

Late evening maternity clinic Monday & Wednesday evenings from 5 - 8pm

Your Scan Includes:

  • 15 coloured photos
  • 15 Black and White photos
  • 15 – 20 minute DVD in a presentation folder
  • You can also find out the sex of your baby on this scan

  • GP referral is not required for a 3D/4D scan
  • This is not a medical scan and will not check for fetal abnormalities
  • No scan results will be sent to your doctor

Early Obstetrical Baby Scan (15 mins)

From 6 - 11 weeks.
Keep in mind that this is 6 to 11 weeks from the first day of the last menstrual period.

This examination determines:

  • The age of the pregnancy
  • The number of pregnancies
  • An estimated date of delivery

 

Other measurements will include:

  • The size of the pregnancy sac
  • Baby’s heart rate
  • Number of babies
  • An assessment of the ovaries
