What Is Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (Dr. Vodder)? It is a specialised therapy, which is designed to improve the functioning of the lymphatic system. This is primarily achieved through gentle, rhythmical circling movements of the skin, which stimulate the contractions of the lymphatic vessels. Techniques are performed with hands and fingers using a light-touch, which is simulating, gentle, through a wave-like movement. The subtle manual manoeuvres activate lymph and interstitial fluid circulation as well as stimulate the functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems. A well-functioning lymph system contributes to healthy body tissue and plays an important part in the body's immune system. Who Can Benefit From Manual Lymphatic Drainage? Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage is recommended for pregnant women to help relieve puffy hands and legs, for sports injures such as sprains, fractures, etc., to help with slimming or cleansing diets, for people who suffer from chronic nasal congestion and much more. What Happens In A Treatment? Following an initial consultation where the therapist checks the client’s health and checks for any contraindications, the client will be left to get undressed in private. During the treatment the client will lie on a massage table or plinth and will be fully covered by towels, with only the body part being worked on at the time remaining exposed.

Lymph drainage massage is a very light, slow, rhythmical massage. The intension is to stimulate the lymph vessels that runjust below the skin and in many cases attach to the skin. Lymph drainagemassage drains excess fluids from the tissues returning them to the circulatorysystem. This means lymph drainage massage can help in many cases of fluidretention, from pregnancy, to injury. The lymph system is also a vital part ofyour immune system, meaning lymph drainage massage can stimulate your immunesystem during and after times of illness. It’s important in immunity, inflammation and healingin general, so an efficient lymphatic system is going to help in manyareas.  Lymphatic drainage is a way toachieve that efficiency. Skin care: For a clearer complexion and to lessenthe appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in facial tissue, as well as reducingpuffiness around the eyes. Old scar tissue can be reduced while the appearanceof new scars can be minimized. It’s commonly used before and after cosmeticsurgery. Detox: At the end of winter, or after a period ofhigh stress, the body will really benefit from lymphatic drainage, to reducethe sluggishness brought on by too many starchy, high fat foods and too littleexercise. Headache: Most headaches including sinusitis have acomponent of congestion that responds well to  lymphatic drainage.   Once tissueis decongested, blocked fluid and blood flow improve, reducing pain anddiscomfort. Promote healing: After surgery or injury, the tissuemay be swollen and sore. Lymphatic drainage is a gentle treatment that willhelp drain the tissue, reduce inflammation and improve healing. Pregnancy and after: There is often fluid retentionin pregnant women and lymphatic drainage can improve comfort especially in legsand feet.  Breast feeding will beenhanced by this treatment, especially when there are problems with blockedducts and sore tight breasts. Reduce swelling:

Job done, feel greatStephen, Ireland, 04 Oct 13

Very pleased with everything. This was the first time having a treatment like this and I was not sure what to expect, but a neighbour mentioned he found this place good for getting clear of his back pain that he had suffered with for years, so I decided to go along and it was good. I had an assessment and treatment in the same appointment and it was €70 and came back the following week for a second treatment for €55. Job done, feel great.

Manual Lymph Drainage aims to redirect fluid from swollen areas to healthy lymphatic vessels, transporting it back to the normal circulatory system . With gentle, light but precise hand movements applied to the skin, the therapists exerts different intensities of pressure to increase the activity of normal lymphatic vessels. This encourages the fluid away from congested areas by bypassing ineffective or injured lymph vessels. The treatment is very gentle and a typical session will involve drainage of the neck, trunk, and the affected extremity (in that order), lasting approximately 40 to 60 minutes. The technique was pioneered by Doctor Emil Vodder in the 1930s

'healing' hands have changed my lifeMel, Ireland, 05 Oct 12

I have been attending Palm Physical Therapy for the past two years, where Pam has treated my lower back injury. An injury I sustained after bending down, incorrectly, to pick up my toddler niece, over 17 years ago. After many years of chiropractic care, with only short-term relief, I found Pam's care and treatment to last far longer. I found the treatment to my muscles far outweighed the work done through other alternative procedures. Pam's knowledge of the body, both inside and out, and her 'healing' hands have changed my life. The flexibility of movement that I have gained over the past two years is wonderful. Long may she practice.

40 Minute treatment on a local area, 75 minutes for full body...  Lymph drainage is a light, slow, rhythmic massage, which follows the path of the lymphatic system of the body. It helps to eliminate toxins and is especially effective after a flu or virus when our immune system has been in overdrive.  If you suffer from sluggishness or puffiness esp in the ankles, Odema.   Sorry but we do NOT offer a Medical Drainage for patients with Lymphedema.
