About Castletroy Physiotherapy Clinic

Located just beside the University main gate, Castletroy Physiotherapy Clinic was created over 20 years ago by Phyllis Dolan, former physiotherapist of the Munster Rugby Team and the Irish Olympic Team.

Four more physios are currently working in our clinic:

Francoise Lauton is a very experienced French trained physiotherapist with a Post Graduate University Diploma in Paediatric Physiotherapy and a special interest in biomechanics and orthotics, Respiratory Physiotherapy and Neurology.

Fiona Mc Devitt is a well-traveled physiotherapist with a special interest in Orthotics and a certificate in Cranio-Sacral Therapy.

Elaine Carey is specialising in Sports Physiotherapy and Biomechanics, and is a certified Pilates instructor.

Eimear Lynch has a special interest in Women's Health and Pre and Post Natal Pilates. Being qualified in Pilates, she also gives classes at Beginners and intermediate level.

Our Clinic provides comprehensive physiotherapy service, including Biomechanical Assessments, Orthotic insoles, Sport Injuries, Respiratory, Neurological and Paediatric assessments and treatment.

Also available in our Clinic: Acupuncture and Massages, provided by Registered professionals.

Discounts are offered to Sport Teams, Plassey Park Employees, pensioners, students and Medical Card holders. We also have regular special offers listed on our Facebook page.

I have attended this clinic over the past 2 years and I always find the service top class. I suffer from neck and shoulder pain and I receive dry needling which I find works best for me. Ashing is the name of the lady I attend and she is always very professional and makes me feel at ease each visit. I would highly recommend a visit here if you're in pain 😊

The clinic has been used several times over he past years years . The chartered physiotherapist was kind ,considerate and courteous .
Home visits are a Huge advantage especially for the elderly frail in Winter .
Physiotherapist/ rehabilitation following fractured hip was given at home after leaving hospital .Lonan Hughes got Nora up ,mobile and confident again .
He also worked on both her shoulders and her Dowegers hump is much reduced .All her pains and aches and medicines are gone .
Lonan gave great confidence to this 90 year old .

I was suffering with severe pain in my foot. It was getting progressively worse and I didn't know what it was. Castletroy Physiotherapy Clinic diagnosed it and started treatment immediately. I'm very happy with the treatment I am recieving.

I used WhatClinic online and put in the details of the treatment I was looking for. Castletroy Physiotherapy Clinic responded first this the next day and had an appointment free. Very happy with their professionalism. Staff are lovely.

Invaluable guidance

5 50 Physical Therapy

I had a sking accident in February and required ACL reconstruction surgery. Post surgery I developed a compressed disc from poor posture as I was not walking correctly and also received trearment for this condition. Treatment is ongoing and recovery is progressing very well thanks to the excellent treatment and supervision of my condition by Phyllis.

I attended here and was given excellent treatment as well a clear advice on what I needed to do pre and post op. This guidance was invaluable and had me in great shape for the surgery. Now I am in post-op phase and getting superb treatment. The knowledge and experience Phyllis has is invaluable to a patient recovering in an unknown phase of treatment and she is very strong on setting realistic progress targets and keeping the patient focused on achieving them.

I cannot speak highly enough of the treatment I received, the knowledge and expertise of the team and the supportive environment which really aids recovery and encourages me to improve.

This technique is used to stretch tense muscles and relieve contractures, and can be painful.

Deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas.

Acupuncture is a major part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its use can be traced back over 4,000 years. It is part of a system of medicine which includes herbal medicine, dietary therapy and manipulation.

Chinese medicine looks to treat the person in a holistic way. The traditional view is that Qi or life force flows around the body in channels.If the Qi is flowing freely then the body is in a healthy state. If this energy flow is impeded then it leads to an imbalance or stagnation of energy and illness. The utilization of single use, sterile, disposable acupuncture needles to stimulate appropriate points on the channels restores energy balance and health.

On your first visit a detailed case history is taken which will take into account the patients lifestyle,emotional state, diet and medical history. This, combined with tongue and pulse examination, allows for a diagnosis to be made and a treatment plan to be undertaken.
