Body Wise Bali

Born and raised in the Netherlands by a mixed Indonesian mother and a Dutch father.

Since a young age he has always been very active playing football and tennis. Because of his natural interest in the human body and occasionally suffering from various sports injuries, he decided to study physiotherapy in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) where he received his bachelor degree in 1996.

For over 6 years he worked in private clinics in the Netherlands and Germany . In these years he specialized himself in various manual therapies and exercise approaches. From 2003 till 2006 he worked in the UK in various Orthopaedic and neuro-rehabilitation centres, private clinics and the NHS. In the UK he studied acupuncture for physiotherapists.

Graduated in Podiatry in 1980 from Curtin University, WA with a passion for treating painful conditions of the lower limbs. This was expressed in a heavy involvement in orthotic therapy which over the next few years had him becoming an orthotic therapy consultant for Western Podiatric Laboratories, one of the new ground breaking laboratories in Australia.

During this time he also began lecturing in orthotic therapy at Curtin which he continued for 15 years. Shane now is an owner of Artisan Orthotic Laboratory which provides orthoses to Podiatrists around Australia.

Despite a huge respect for what can be achieved with orthotic therapy, in looking for even better outcomes, Shane also became a qualified Acupuncturist in 1991 and now presents workshops in Australia, UK and Ireland.

For the past 10 years Shane has concentrated his clinical practice into treating sporting injuries and chronic pain in the lower limbs using a combination of orthotic therapy, acupuncture, Laser Therapy and manual therapies.

Long before she ever became a professional physiotherapist, Heike loved to watch people and analyze their postures and movements, still one of her favorite pastimes today.

One of her friends even said that she analyzes the often bad posture of the models in fashion magazines, but is not really interested in the beautiful dresses they are wearing!

In 2004 she finished her education as a physiotherapist in Germany, worked in various orthopedic and neurological clinics. She took care of both a soccer and a hockey team and, as she always loved cats, she went on tour with the ensemble of the musical “Cats” for more than a year. There, she learned a lot about evaluating and treating acute injuries and orthopedic ailments.

n 2010, Heike received her international Bachelor degree at Thim van der Laan Hogeschool in the Netherlands. Back in Germany, she taught in a physiotherapy school and she is a qualified manual therapist, specialized in orthopedic treatments.
